Short Description:
The Programmer is responsible for analysis, design, coding, component and assembly testing of application code for the Enterprise Solutions Management department. This postion is replacing a person who is leaving BWC.
Complete Description:
This postion is replacing a person who is leaving BWC. A day in the life of this person will involves production support involving enhancing existing applications and\or writing new ones. The Programmer is responsible for analysis, design, coding, component and assembly testing of all application code owned by the Application Team. Programmers typically are involved in maintenance (including production support), enhancement and development work. Programmer should have a range of skills and knowledge of the technologies used and applications supported by the Application Team and should be able to function on a level of a Senior Programmer. The Programmer works with the Functional Architect and Technical Architecture Specialist to ensure that design and code meets customer requirements. The programmer will respond to customer request concerning data analysis.

10 plus years
Preferred Education:
4 year college degree or equivalent technical study with advanced study preferred.

Required Skill Sets 5 years experience on the following:
•CA Gen (version 7.x and up) development suite of tools consisting of (1) Windows Analysis, Design and Construction Toolsets (2) Windows Build Tool (3) Client Server Encyclopedia (CSE) (4) CSE Clients (5) CSE Construction Toolset (6) MVS Implementation Toolset (7) Diagram Trace Utility to generate objects for the designated target environments as follows:
•COBOL batch modules & COBOL CICS servers targeted for IBM ZOS mainframe
•C++ clients (incl. OLE) targeted for a file server
•COM Proxies & C# Servers targeted for Windows 2003 (and up) that interop with ASP.NET
•ASP.NET testing stubs targeted for Windows 2003 (and up)
-Report Composer (version 6.x and up) to design and create (1) block mode reports (2) GUI reports and correspondence utilizing Crystal Reports (3) sequential file handlers
-Crystal Reports (version 11 and up) to design and create GUI reports and correspondence utilizing Report Composer
-Data structures and access methods DB2 (SQL, QMF, SPUFI), GDG, flat files
-TSO, FileManager, JCL
-Microsoft Office (2005 and up) with an emphasis on (1) Access - DB creation, importing and analysis of data (2) Excel - importing and analysis of data employing complex formulas and macros.
Desired Experience
5+ years experience in all of the following:
-Developing business applications in the insurance or financial services industry.
-Developing business applications using the Zachman Framework for Enterprise Architectures.
-Collaborating with data analysts and functional/business process analysts in the development of highly normalized data models
-Designing, constructing, testing, implementing and supporting CA Gen (4 ½ yrs version 7.x and up), Report Composer (4 ½ yrs version 6.x and up) and Crystal Reports (4 ½ y version 11 and up) application objects in the specified target environments using all the noted required skill sets.
-Performance tuning CA Gen generated SQL against a highly normalized data architecture accessing large volumes of data.
Additional Knowledge /Experience
-Knowledge of actuarial principles in establishing rates and setting reserves.
-Knowledge of payment principals of authorization, distribution and electronic (EFT & EBT) and check disbursements.
-Knowledge of Worker’s Compensation insurance operations.
-Experience creating External Action Blocks
-Experience with accessing Oracle Relational Data Bases
