Job Purpose:

The Online Programme Success Tutor is responsible and accountable for the overall effective and efficient academic student support, success, and retention rates of RC Distance students within designated programmes.  Additional responsibility relates to the support of the IIE learning strategies to promote student engagement and success.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Lecturing at least one module to a minimum of 2 groups online. Lesson preparation, marking and moderation as requiredMinimum research commitment of an action research project dealing with Online related issues that have something to do with the RC Distance context.At least one article in a given academic year is the minimum research requirement.Conduct Lecturer Orientation/Induction sessionsPeer Reviewing assigned Online TutorsConduct Lecturer Forum MeetingsAttend Faculty WorkshopsPlanning and facilitation of Online Tutor Programme meetingsCo-ordinate subject specific TutorialsEnsure Online Tutors integrate appropriate student support services into the classroom based on learner needsPeer Reviewing assigned Online TutorsConduct student Orientation WorkshopsConduct student Development Workshops (Plagiarism; Study Skills, Numeracy and Literacy Skills, etc.)Plan and facilitate WRP/WIL sessionsParticipate in Online Town Hall SessionsConduct class visits and consult with Online Students as neededAnalyse and track student performance and implement appropriate interventionsIdentify and implement interventions for At-Risk StudentsIntegrate online student support services asynchronously and synchronously as requiredProvide input regarding PIPO for specific programmes; Manage disputes and complaints between Online Tutors and studentsAssist with the recruitment process for tutors for allocated programmes

Minimum Requirements:

Master's Degree (NQF Level 9 Qualification) in Supply Chain Management or Logistics Management (Completed or currently registered) 
3-5 years’ experience in the teaching and learning field, specifically lecturing in the tertiary environment

Key Competencies:

Knowledge and understanding of the South African higher education systems and regulatory framework.
Knowledge and understanding of the Teaching and Learning theory and interventions.The ability to provide student support services.The ability to work with and learn more about digitalized academic platforms.The ability to cope with a frequently changing environment and to adapt to evolving situations.Ability to adhere to rules and strictly follow work regulations.Deadline orientated and can work well under pressure.Ability to manage time effectively

Working Hours:

The campus opening times are from 08h00 until 17h00 Monday to Friday
