Program Manager leads local or global cross functional project team over a period of time while initiating, planning, executing, monitoring & controlling and closing the project. Successfully lead the business case and the delivery. Lead developing and continuously improving processes, guidelines and tools for new product development. Program Manager handles projects with risk mgt and mitigation plan execution. Incubation program mangers not only leading NPD projects but also work on product related initiatives, large size new business onboarding projects and cost out VA/VE projects. Program Managers are responsible for the project success and the regular communication of the status of the project to the leadership teams. While leading a team they need to facilitate teamwork and can navigate team members in a matrix organization, measure the project success and initiate corrective actions together with the team.
Job ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.
Develops and manages basic plans including a solid scope statement and a risk log with the team for low complexity programs. Ensures clear staffing needs are communicated. Generates a basic roles/responsibilities matrix for the team and leads regularly scheduled team meetings. Reviews other similar projects for lessons learned. Uses tools to assess program health and trends (Biz case, Value Proposition), quality, technical performance, focus on program delivery. Effectively communicates across the Program Team, to their immediate managers, and to external counterparts, e.g. customers or suppliers. Lead the development of business case for the program and fully understand the importance of the program to the business. Works with program team members and the rest of the organization to understand customer needs and how the product is being developed to meet those needs. Considers own functional strengths and background and seeks to build basic knowledge of adjacent functions. Remains positive through challenging situations and effectively deals with team conflict. Develops a team environment that encourages open team member input and engagement. Has awareness of organizational change management principles and applies basic communication planning to projects. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in business or technical field; other applicable engineering degrees will be considered. Great to have off highway work experience. Familiar with off highway machines will be a plus. 8+ years of relevant experience. Knows basic project management tool sand follows up consistently. Initiates corrective actions and changes in plans when necessary and adjusts actions and resources accordingly. Fosters a harmonious, co-operative team atmosphere through open and honest dialogue. Applicable work experience with electrical and mechanical engineering. Ability to travel up to 25% for business needs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Capable of engaging in hands-on work that demands focus and attention to detail. High flexibility to react to changing requirements.
