Program Manager, South Asia Regional Program
The program manager leads the design, implementation, and oversight of projects and initiatives for the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine (GPM) and St. Jude Global (SJG). Under the GPM director's supervision and as assigned, they serve as a section and/or project team lead. Acts as a liaison with other members of GPM and SJG and its collaborators, to ensure coordination and success of departmental, regional, and/or global initiatives and departmental requirements. *This position may be eligible for the possibility of remote work.* Overview St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is one of the world's premier centers for research and treatment of catastrophic diseases in children, primarily pediatric cancers. Headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee in the United States, St. Jude seeks to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Within St. Jude, the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine (GPM) is a growing department looking for professionals who are eager to help implement the St. Jude Global (SJG) mission by training the clinical workforce, developing and strengthening health systems and patient-centered initiatives, and advancing knowledge to sustain continuous improvement through research. St. Jude Global has worked actively in South Asian countries such as India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka for a number of years, and has established partnerships with more than 20 institutions in the region. To deepen the engagement with the region, St. Jude Global is now creating a new Regional Program akin to those in other parts of the world (see Regional Programs for more information). The Program Manager will play a central role in developing this Regional Program. Because this is a new position, the responsibilities will evolve over time, which means that the Program Manager will have an opportunity to shape their role. The Program Manager will be responsible for: Playing a leading role in the strategic planning, management, and execution of the South Asia Regional Program, including defining objectives, approaches, goals, governance mechanisms, resource deployment, monitoring, and communications; Driving outreach and engagement with regional collaborators (i.e., St. Jude Global Alliance members, governments, and strategic partner organizations such as the World Health Organization); Managing relationships with a range of stakeholders inside St. Jude, including facilitating connections between internal groups and partners in the region; Overseeing the Regional Program team members (currently one position), managing their performance and development; Developing and evaluating program success metrics, providing complex data analysis & interpretation, and developing program-related reports for senior leadership; Managing and executing project budgets and contracts; Ensuring alignment with departmental and institutional policies and practices; Overseeing end-to-end development of internal & external facing events, including but not limited to strategy, creative concepts, calendar and timelines. Special Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Exhibits strategic thinking and execution capabilities to support program planning and coordination, showing a strong understanding of customer needs and program objectives; Builds effective relationships and is a model representative of an organization; Employs structured and systemic problem-solving approaches to tackle complex challenges; Possesses strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills; Synthesizes data from quantitative and qualitative sources to draw meaningful conclusions; Holds knowledge of the South Asia global health landscape (specific knowledge of pediatric oncology and other diseases in the region is a plus); Has strong organizational skills and attention to detail; Able to carry out broad assignments with minimal supervision; Has strong writing, editing, and analytical skills; Is dynamic and flexible to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities; Demonstrates cultural sensitivity; Is able and willing to travel internationally; Has the ability to adapt work schedule, with prior notice, to accommodate meetings occurring in multiple time zones. All candidates must submit a cover letter to be considered for the position. Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred. Minimum Experience: 4+ years of experience in program management and delivery; 5+ years of experience preferred; Experience building relationships with diverse actors across an ecosystem for collaboration and program delivery; Experience designing and managing programs with focus on customer needs; Experience in program budget tracking, reporting, and risk management; Experience providing guidance and mentorship within program management teams; Proven experience engaging with senior leaders to facilitate decision-making; Experience providing guidance and mentorship within program management team; Some experience driving continuous program improvement projects; Experience working with international organizations such as the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the World Bank, or other parts of the United Nations preferred; Experience working in different countries and/or cultural contexts preferred; Experience working in a decentralized organization with multiple offices preferred. Compensation In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
