The QSV is a sanctioned camp site that provides safe camping for adults experiencing homelessness in Olympia.  CCS strives to provide a safe and respectful environment where program participants can access an array of emergency and supportive services and work towards more permanent housing. 

Staff in this position provide supervision, program structure, behavior management and a wide range of basic needs services, as well as more advanced social services. This includes helping guests navigate a myriad of social service agencies, forms and interviews. Staff are trained in behavior management, basic case services, as well as Motivational Interviewing and other counseling skills. This position is in charge or maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the site and surrounding area.

 

 

Responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIED AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitor in and out traffic at the front gate of the Mitigation Site.Respond to disruptive behavior (includes arguments, fights, drug dealing, etc.). Patrol, observe, and report any issues around site perimeter, including sidewalk and parking area for residents, staff, and service providers and general neighborhood related to businesses. Provide behavioral management for a diverse population including individuals with chemical dependency and/or mental health issues. This includes setting limits, encouraging desired behaviors, assigning consequences and helping people think through their actions and decisions.Write timely and behaviorally descriptive Ban Reports when guests exhibit disruptive behavior.Staff the front desk to include answering the phone, authorizing access to clients                    and guests, and monitoring the security of the entire Site and surrounding area.Respond to guests who are in crisis or having medical emergencies and report to appropriate emergency services as needed. Provide services, resources, and information to guests. Develop supportive relationship with guests by using motivational interviewing strategies, providing an informal listening ear for guests experiencing difficulties.Work collaboratively with the other CCS staff including Familiar Faces, Drexel House, The Community Kitchen and work with outside agencies including mental health and social worker to promote positive behavioral changes in guests. Participate in multidisciplinary case staffing meetings as needed to coordinate services for guests.Maintain an excellent level of cleanliness by cleaning the site of garbage, animal waste, etc., while following all safety protocols. Maintain the daily schedule for each program. This may include onsite programing, outside agency visits, etc.Maintain written and computerized records including communication log, incident reports, and HMIS data entry.Inform appropriate personnel of problems with operation of any plumbing, latrine, heating and electrical systems to ensure site remains safe and operational. Maintain order and communicate/enforce rules and policies. Log in /out residents, client and visitors.Maintain daily log of active participant and number of available spaces.Record significant occurrences in logbook in a professional manner. Initiate and model respectful interactions with residents.Maintain an atmosphere conducive to a good night’s rest for the site.Ensure all participants are provided with adequate bedding, space, tent/shelter, and basic needs.Ensure comfortable environment for clients and residents. Visually and aurally monitor the site and latrines to maintain safety and security of residents and premises.Encourage participants’ engagement in maintaining a clean and safe environment.Provide participants services and information.Resource information lists Deliver messages and packages Follow up with residents and clients about scheduled items, such as reminder of appointment times. Work with and support volunteers, staff, visiting staff and interns.Communicate with other team members throughout the shift to make sure everything is done, and everyone is aware of any ongoing issues.Take care of all janitorial needs of the site and assist with daily clean up.Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or GED.Possess good verbal and written communication.Ability to use a computer proficiently for documentation, data entry, etc.Applicant must successfully pass required background checks prior to an offer of employment.Ability to provide a negative TB test. Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with diverse populations including people with active mental health and substance use disorders.Experience providing homeless services.Certified Peer Counselor certification.AA/BA in Social Service or related field.
