Program Director, Marlboro Gardens

HeartShare St. Vincent’s Service’s is looking for a youth development professional that is passionate about working in communities with families and children. The Program Director will be responsible for managing the overall program operations according to the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) and HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services guidelines.  The Program Director will ensure all participants are participating in engaging and safe educational and recreational activities during program hours.  They will oversee that the program is complying with DYCD contractual obligations, and is the primary liaison to the funding sources and HSVS executive management, and other stakeholders.  The Program Director will oversee after-school, evening and weekend programming during the school year, and also summer camp. 

Supervises: Activity Specialists, Group Leaders, Coordinators, Maintenance, Security, Office Manager, Assistant Director

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of Position:

In addition to responsibilities below, performs all other duties as assigned:

Uses positive approaches when handling difficult situations.  Avoids gossip and negative discussions.  Remains flexible and adapts to change.   Serves as role model for program participants.  Abides dress code.  Conducts self in a professional manner at all times.  Remains sensitive and responsive to cultural differences of program participants and staff.  Participates in in-service trainings and on-site workshops as required for professional growth and development.  Attends external trainings and workshops at direction of management. Represents the organization both within and outside of the work environment in a manner that promotes the mission, vision and values of the agency.  Personally, adheres to organizational mission, vision and values, in addition to all other agency policies and procedures. Computer savvy, with knowledge of using Microsoft Office programs.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Powerpoint. Available on evenings, weekends, and holidays.   Organization and implementation of program operations and contractual obligations including preparation and submission of monthly deliverables, incident reports, workscopes, budgets, and planning of events and programming. Maintain all required NYC licensure for program operations. Experience and\or knowledge of NYCHA, DYCD, DOH, DOE, or child care policy and procedures. Budget oversight, including development, submission and monitoring program budgets in collaboration with executive management and HeartShare’s fiscal department. Track attendance and participation at DYCD meetings, workshops, and required trainings. Implement community outreach, and collaboration with stakeholders such as Resident Association, NCO’s, elected officials, other Cornerstones and CBO programs.   Staff hiring and development using Paycom and completion of all Paycom related task such as completion of PAF’s, performance management and etc. Conduct staff supervision for all direct reports, and annual evaluations of all program staff using Paycom.    Assuring quality of services and safety of all program participants.
