Program Coordinator - MHAT

POSITON TITLE:  Mental Health Awareness Training Program Coordinator                Non-Exempt Position

 

RESPONSIBLE TO:  Program Director

 

MAJOR DUTIES:  Responsible for developing the detailed mental health awareness training plan and executing the plan in accordance with contract requirements for SAMHSA. Incumbent performs the following activities:

 

Coordinate and facilitate all mental health awareness trainings in the community based on Mental Health First Aid and/or Youth Mental Health First Aid evidence-based curriculum;Establish and maintain relationships with clinics and hospitals, local service providers, first responders, and school districts to expand the agency’s collaborative partnerships and improve coordination of services;Support MHAT Project Director in developing policies and procedures to gather and record client-level data related to program services and outcomes;Develop and manage spreadsheet to track all related program activities including community outreach, number of trainings held and when, number of attendees, etc.Ensure client and program data is accurately and completely recorded in agency’s electronic record health system;Work with Data Analyst and Project Director to review reports on performance indicators, identify and discuss barriers and facilitators to implementation, and generate plans for program improvement;Assist the Data Analyst in preparing SAMHSA quarterly data reporting (GPRA, SPARS) and drafting all reports;Identify agency staff or programs that would benefit from internal MHFA/YMHFA training and those staff members who should be trained as MHFA/YMHFA Trainers;Represent the agency in the community;Other duties as assigned.

 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in social work, counseling, or related field;Experience with conducting trainings/public speaking;Current certification or willingness to get certified as a Trainer in Mental Health First Aid and Youth Mental Health First Aid during first 90 days of employment;Knowledge of mental health resources in the community or willingness to learn;Ability to build rapport; skilled at community outreach and establishing mutually beneficial relationships;Able to work well with others and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

 

 

 

GUIDELINES

Requires that the incumbent relies on specialized training in Mental Health First Aid and Youth Mental Health First Aid evidence-based curriculum and performs duties in accordance with Washington Administrative Codes, Federal regulations governing the confidentiality of patient files, contract requirements for SAMHSA, and Lifeline Connections Policy and Procedure Manual.  

 

 

PERSONAL CONTACTS

Contacts are with agency staff, representatives of various community agencies specializing in the treatment of substance use and mental health, and related community representatives including hospital personnel, caregivers, school districts, first responders, lawyers, probation officers, and other court officials.  All personal contacts are carried out in accordance with federal and state laws dealing with the confidentiality of client records.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, speak clearly, hear and use hands and fingers to manipulate writing utensils and keys on a keyboard.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or lift and/or move maximum of 15 lbs.  The employee may be required to effectively operate an automobile.

 

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Working hours are spent indoors in offices or other meeting rooms coordinating and facilitating mental health awareness trainings. Participation in staff retreats and staff development activities will be required.

 

 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  Program Director

Salary: $30.73 - $31.93/hr DOE
