Program Coordinator
Job Description: The Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America (CSREA) is a campus-wide research and programming hub that supports and generates rigorous and accessible scholarship, performance, and art on a broad range of important questions and pressing issues related to race and ethnicity to help build greater understanding and a more just world. The Program Coordinator will help develop and execute programmatic events and academic initiatives that emphasize the importance of questions of race and race-related topics with emphasis on the arts, humanities, social sciences, and sciences across the university and with public partners. Projects include but may not be limited to: professional development workshops for faculty and graduate students, working groups, fellows programs, conferences and convenings, speaker series, and various other public engagement endeavors. The Program Coordinator will collaborate with the Center Manager and Associate Director to determine resource requirements, budget, and deliverables and will provide regular written reports. This position will report directly to the Center Manager. This is a two-year grant-funded position ending in December 2026, with the possibility of renewal. Education and Experience + Bachelor's degree with 1-2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. + Strong written and oral communication skills; proven ability to articulate ideas in verbal and written communications + Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to work with faculty, staff, and administrators + Self-starter with a strong work ethic, demonstrated ability working on deadlines + Ability to manage/juggle many logistical items at one time, for several different events and programs + Excellent organizational skills and attention to details for planning events + Flexibility, good judgment, and ability to maintain confidential information + Ability to handle challenging and complex situations and create thoughtful, informed, and institutionally aligned responses + Ability to work both collaboratively and independently in an organized and productive manner + Experience using program/project management software including Excel and Google Drive + Video editing skills are a plus, but not required or necessary Why Brown?
