Summary of Position
To teach HMCA courses as prescribed by institutional policies and perform operational duties within the respective areas of responsibilities. Supervises food service students.
Minimum Required Education
Associates Degree from a nationally or regionally accredited institution is required in food service management or related field; prefer Bachelor’s Degree from a nationally or regionally accredited institution .
Minimum Required Experience
Must hold a valid National Restaurant Association Serv-Safe certificate with 2 years of specific experience in Food Service. Must have knowledge of food production, menu management, sanitation, and supervision. Prefer experience in cooking and baking.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Demonstrated knowledge in subject matter being taught;
+ Ability to communicate effectively with students in a clear manner;
+ Ability to give academic and vocational guidance to students as needed.
+ Must have a proficiency to communicate in oral and written English.
+ Must be neat in appearance and exhibit positive professional attitude.
+ Demonstrated managerial skills.
+ Must be punctual, dependable, and have the ability to understand and follow directions.
+ Must be well-grounded in the use of computer technology.
+ Must be willing to work flexible and non-standard hours and work under exacting conditions.

Must possess, depending on course instruction, some of the following skills and knowledge; preparation and demonstration of aspic, cold buffets, sauces, table arrangement, nutrition, and restaurant operations. Must obtain Serv-Safe Managers Certification within 3 months of hire, as a condition of employment. Must provide proof of professional certification within the 3 month time frame.
