Professional Staff Nurse, OP (RN) – Pediatrics, 9th Floor

UPMC is currently hiring for a Full-time Registered Nurse (RN) to join our outpatient Pediatrics Office on the 9th floor of the Williamsport Regional Medical Center. This is a salaried Professional Staff Nurse, OP position 5 days/wk, Monday through Friday, with no weekends or major holidays. Staff are scheduled to work 4 day shifts, between 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, and 1 evening shift from 10:30 am to 7:00 pm per week. Purpose:

The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and key member of the care team. They set the standards for quality care and hold responsibility, authority, and accountability for nursing care. They manage patient care for a group of patients and their families, using independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with team members. They establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians, other healthcare providers, patients, and families to achieve desired outcomes. They demonstrate a commitment to the community and the nursing profession.

Responsibilities:

Participate in quality improvement efforts and identify opportunities for improvement. Take responsibility for enhancing patient satisfaction with care and service. Use research and evidence-based practice to improve clinical care. Build and maintain positive relationships with executives, managers, physicians, staff, and patients/families. Work effectively in a complex environment, managing multiple priorities and specialized equipment. Apply good clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in patient care. Demonstrate physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients. Teach patients, families, students, and new staff, applying adult learning principles. Provide detailed teaching to guide patients and families through their care. Support the development of students, new staff, and colleagues. Create an environment of open dialogue and continuous development. Formulate patient care goals and plans, considering individual patient needs. Triage patient situations and coordinate care with physicians. Assist physicians with patient assessment, evaluation, and education. Identify and address clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues in patient care. Communicate effectively with care providers and recommend changes in patient care. Ensure comprehensive patient documentation to promote communication between caregivers. Incorporate organizational goals to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction. Create a compassionate, patient-focused experience by building healing relationships. Demonstrate accountability for professional development and quality improvement. Participate in shared governance, goal setting, and support change processes. Serve as an engaged partner on the care team, responding to team needs. Adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility.
