Location: Rochester, NY Category: Professional Tutor Posted On: Tue Apr 4 2023 Job Description: Summary and Purpose of the Position: Reporting to the Director of Learning Support Systems, Professional Tutors are staff who work with students to help them to develop effective learning strategies and to become self-regulated learners. These tutors help students with discipline-specific content. Function of Position: + Foster the development of independent, intentional learners + Develop and nurture rapport with students, peers, and faculty + Collaborate with faculty on providing workshops and in setting tutoring expectations + Adhere to tutoring center protocol and tutoring expectations as outlined in the Tutor Handbook + Promote critical thinking and problem solving + Help to identify and fill learning gaps with discipline specific content + Help students understand our learning management system (Brightspace) + Prepare students for exams and quizzes Secondary Functions: + Visit classrooms, as needed, to introduce students to tutoring.
