Production Team Lead
Under direction of Production Supervisor(s), directs the press operation of night shifts keeping team apprised of safety and quality issues, operational and/or maintenance issues, service standards, work assignments and production schedules. The Press Lead must possess above average mechanical skills and be fully capable of understanding mixer, extruder and drying theories and operation

Job Description:

Provide work direction to Press team based on production schedules and available assets. Ensures Company safety and quality rules and regulations are adhered to during the shift.Directs work to meet production goals and schedule attainment.Ensure Company GMP’s are maintained.Ensures that clear and accurate communication occurs regarding press performance and watchouts to oncoming shifts. Ensure that clear and timely communication occurs as required to Production Manager(s) regarding safety, quality, people and/or production issues.Using available assets, problem solves, and trouble shoots press issues to determine root cause and develop plan of action to resolve.Have an active role in continuous improvement initiatives.Ensure shifts maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace. Strong understanding of the semolina process, drying curve, and basic operation of the presses.  Complete necessary reporting and maintenance of required records. Use sound judgement in exercising caution to ensure personal safety and the safety of others. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with press operators, press helpers, leads, packaging operators, schedulers, lab technicians, and material handlers to insure efficient production levels with minimal mistakes. Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Must demonstrate understanding of press equipment and operation.

Must demonstrate above average math skills.

Must possess a solid mechanical aptitude combined with technical training and/or the equivalent in manufacturing experience (preferably in food manufacturing).

Demonstrate creative troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

QUALIFICATIONS 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

This position requires that the individual has already passed the press operator exam and performed successfully and effectively as a press operator.  Must possess and demonstrate strong mechanical skills.  The additional requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret production schedules, technical procedures and reports.  Ability to write reports and calculate efficiencies for production reporting requirements.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers, managers and auditors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as efficiency percentages and volume/weights in metric. 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions presented in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
