Production Planning Process Improvement Specialist

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Production Planning Process Improvement Specialist reports to the Production Planning Manager and is responsible for analyzing current production planning processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing effective solutions to enhance operational efficiency. This role focuses on creating and standardizing processes, developing training programs for planning personnel, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to align with organizational goals.

 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Evaluate current production planning procedures and workflows to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement. Develop and recommend standardized best practices for production planning processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on process changes and improvements. Create and provide comprehensive training programs on new processes and tools for production planning personnel. Maintain accurate training records for all production planning team members. Draft and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions specific to production planning activities. Utilize tools like Value Stream Mapping to identify bottlenecks and streamline planning processes. Assist in the creation, maintenance, and presentation of planning metrics and dashboards to measure performance and ensure continuous improvement. Support the implementation and adoption of ERP system enhancements as they relate to production planning. Conduct root cause analysis for planning discrepancies and implement corrective actions. Act as a liaison between production planning and other departments to resolve scheduling and material availability conflicts. Other duties as assigned by TAS Energy. 

 

 

JOB SKILLS:

Strong passion for Continuous Improvement and Lean Principles. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. Proficient in ERP systems, particularly in production planning modules. High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Google Sheets, and other data visualization tools. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines. Strong work ethic with a focus on safety, quality, and productivity. Adaptable to new tools, processes, and a fast-paced work environment. 

 

 

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Operations, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Significant experience with production planning processes may be considered in lieu of a degree. 

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Previous experience leading process improvement initiatives in a production planning environment. Hands-on experience documenting Work Instructions or Standard Operating Procedures. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, or other quality improvement initiatives. Strong understanding of ERP systems related to production and planning. 

 

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

3+ years of experience in production planning or related roles in a manufacturing environment. 2+ years of advanced Excel tools, including VBA, pivot tables, and data analysis. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent. Experience in developing and tracking KPIs to drive performance improvements. 

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Position is at least 80% to 95% at a desk working with computer. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions.  Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and conduct extensive reading.  The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
