Production Planner

Role Summary:

This role is responsible for the planning of material and production for an assigned value stream within the Engineered-to-Order (ETO) business at the Raleigh, NC facility.  In this role you will plan and manage the material and production supply plan in order meet customer delivery requirements and site shipping targets.  You will evaluate the impact of changes in production execution, material supply, and customer demands, update and revise the material plan, and make accurate delivery commitments to customer orders.

Responsibilities Include:

Manage material requirement planning schedules for the assigned manufacturing value stream and ensure that detailed production schedules are aligned to support on-time delivery to customers.  This includes the creation, release, and schedule maintenance of production orders and planned orders within the MRP system.

Partner with the relevant operations team to drive work order schedule adherence.  Ensure that the operations capacity and capability are sufficient to execute the plan and take action to mitigate any deficiencies, including realignment of the production plan when needed.  Drive excellence in plant resource utilization through effective capacity planning processes.

Collaborate with the supply chain team to evaluate material shortages and ensure the delivery of purchased material will support the production and shipment plan.  Analyze exception messages on material supply and take actions as necessary to realign the schedule or expedite to maintain delivery plans.

Communicate actively with the contract management and project management teams to proactively notify customers of delivery schedule changes and coordinate as needed for any mitigating or expediting actions.

Be responsible for ERP system data integrity to ensure accuracy for MRP dates and item master planning data.  Partner with the relevant functions to maintain correct BOM structures, accurate production routings, and transaction and inventory integrity.

As an active member of the planning team, maintain an effective team communication and performance management process to ensure daily visibility to team performance, confirmation of standard work processes, proactive and robust problem solving of deviations, and on-going continuous improvement.  Leverage Lean principles and partner with the site CI team to continually analyze and improve all internal planning processes to drive waste out of the system, shorten order shipment lead-times, and deliver greater value to customers.

Requirements:

Associate’s degree in an engineering, operations, or business-related field.  For internal FLS candidates, three years of related experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

Materials and production planning experience in an ETO discrete manufacturing environment.

Strong understanding of the function of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Master Production Scheduling (MPS) systems, with experience in how to leverage the system tools and processes to enable material and capacity planning excellence.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, operations, or business-related field.

High-level working knowledge of SAP or Epicor Avante as an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

Planning and Inventory Management Certification through APICS or similar professional association.

Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and experience in a manufacturing environment where Lean principles are core to the operating approach.

On site in Raleigh, NC

Standard office hours:  7:30AM – 4:15PM, Mon-Fri. including occasional Saturdays.
