The Production Machine Operator III is responsible for duties related to the setup and manufacturing of wire on complex Primary and Jacket Extrusion Machines and other like machinery to produce products per customer specifications in a timely and accurate manner.
1st shift
Essential Duties:
Efficiently manufacture quality wire product on assigned complex Primary and Jacket Extruding machinery.
Serves as back-up and has the versatility to run most Operator I and Operator II machinery such as Spoolers, Braiders, Calbers and Twisters proficiently on an as needed basis.
Run product as specified by spec design to ensure that the product is extruded properly.
Follow all operational safety protocols for the plant, machine, etc.
Deliver acceptable business results (KPIs) related to Quality, Productivity, Material usage and scrap, and Labor costs.
Turn on all electrical for the extrusion line. Set heat profiles for compound ranges.
Complete extruder compound and color changeovers efficiently and accurately with least possible scrap.
Appropriately and safely set up for payoff and take up.
Accurately capture all required Quality Assurance data collection. Completely follow our ISO standards. Support activities within compliance to ISO Quality System procedures.
Remove finished cable from take-ups and cross-overs to include startup scrap in obtaining center, spool or reel weights from 100 to 3800 lbs.
Clean extruder head, parts, and pull screw.
Maintain & Improve on 5S standards (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain) your area. Maintain tools, equipment, material in designated location homes.
Constantly provide organic improvement to your process, regularly participate in and contribute to your team’s process improvement.
Work as a team with other leads, supervisors, managers and Attleboro employees.
Responsible for all other projects, tasks, etc., as assigned.

Consistently produce accurate quality product, maintain a low scrap yield, and properly follow QA procedures and record keeping processes.
Produce quality product with a sense of urgency and easily avoids distractions (i.e., cell phones) to meet on-time delivery targets.
Respectfully makes recommendations and shares ideas to improve safety items, production processes and overall plant continuous improvement on a regular basis.
Collaborates with others throughout the organization in a positive manner involving inquiries, ideas and/or concerns.
Willingly participates in continuous improvement initiatives and activities, such as Kaizen events or leads task improvement discussions at Gemba huddle boards.
Possess flexibility to simultaneously and confidently run primary and multiple operations with little to no supervision.
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
Ability to read and write clearly.
Ability to organize works tasks efficiently.
Ability to communicate with all levels of employees.
Must be able to multi-task, follow priorities given, and have strong troubleshooting techniques.
Self-starter; ability to work with minimal supervision.
Minimum Education and Experience Preferred:
Hands-on wire and cable extrusion experience strongly desired.
Experience in a manufacturing environment.
High School Diploma/GED is preferred.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that can be noisy.
Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear required PPE.
Ability to work long hours while standing and operating machinery.
Ability to work in high temperatures.
Ability to move objects and materials of at least 50lbs.
