Job summary – What to expect:
As a Production Operator on our new HV100 line, you will perform a range of manufacturing duties in line with our standard operating procedures as part of a multi-skilled English speaking diverse team, engaged in the manufacture of contact lenses and to achieve set manufacturing and quality standards.
Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
Health and Safety (H&S) Compliance Operating machinery safely in accordance with Health and safety regulations, Standard Operating Procedures and Company Work Instructions: Recording of Production data in accordance with company procedures and SOP’s and as directed from time to time Handling and processing lenses Quality inspections to the highest standard in accordance with company procedures Operational / Business Unit housekeeping Analysis of production performance data
Work Environment:
The post works within a demanding, yet informal, English speaking inclusive environment where there is an ongoing expectation and responsibility to maximise productivity time and productivity levels to ensure targets are met. The immediate work area is open plan with lots of moving equipment with team members in close proximity. Controlled manufacturing environment with a clean room area with gowning procedure required e.g. all hair covered, legs covered, no make-up and no heels. The work, typically carried out over a 12-hour shift is physically demanding and a significant proportion of the shift will require the member of staff to stand. Some of our work areas have a high level of noise. Where this is above prescribed limits PPE is supplied and must be worn. In some roles you may be required to handle chemicals. Full PPE and training will be provided. Will be required to undergo mandatory annual surveillance health checks. Teamwork will be required, under the supervision of a Team Leader/Shift Leader.

About you:
We are looking for someone who has strong communication skills with the ability to communicate well with all team members including line managers and support operations and the ability to work well within a team environment working towards a common goal.
Experience & Education:
Previous work experience in a Manufacturing environment is desirable although not essential. A high standard of written and spoken English. Good communication skills Good numerical skills Good technical abilities Good problem-solving skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Understanding and adherence of Health and Safety and quality procedures, Positive attitude and ability to self-motivate and demonstrate initiative to promote team working and overcome obstacles to progressive working Observant to any changes on the line and prepared to take observe and take effective action to overcome minor issues and use a ‘hands-on’ approach to solve, where practical and in a timely manner Ability to work with minimum supervision within a team and at time be able to work effectively on your own, where necessary To be proactive in matters relating to continuous improvement to meet business requirements Flexibility to work on a variety of tasks and willing to learn new skills on multiple lines and different business areas, including Hamble, Chandlers Ford and both when needed Quality conscious Punctual for daily tasks and the motivation to work to set targets Able to handle repetitive work and to ensure consistency of work standards.
