**Description**
The University of Rochester International Theatre Program is seeking an experienced and resourceful Production Manager to oversee its production activities (4 mainstage productions; 2 smaller theatrical events, annually; in 2 venues, including a new $18m facility) and support and develop the vision of the Program which aims to be a nationally recognized and artistically ambitious and outstanding theatre program, targeted largely (though not exclusively) at nonmajors.
Faculty position (non-tenure track; the position is paid on a 12-month schedule; but actively reports for work from August 1 through the end of May; renewable). The successful candidate will be an outstanding communicator, manager, and collaborator; proactive, but flexible; detail-oriented, and an excellent problem solver with experience and expertise in at least one production specialty (lighting, sound, stage-management, projections, etc.) The PM teaches 2 courses per semester (taught courses will depend on the successful candidates’ proficiencies and areas of expertise) and oversees the successful realization of all productions. The PM plans, creates, and maintains detailed production schedules, in consultation with the artistic director, department heads, technical director, and production’s creative team; develops, manages and controls production budgets and technical inventories, manpower resources (including student crews), and the Theatre Program’s facilities.
The PM mentors and inspires students; is the central clearing house for the communication and monitoring of all production information; oversees all departments, including scenery, lights, sound and multimedia, costumes, painting, stage management and props. Working with the TD and other production staff, the PM troubleshoots and monitors production budgets and designs, sources materials, hires additional staff (as needed), and collaborates extensively with a changing roster of guest professional designers and directors. The candidate should work well under pressure, understand the frequently nontraditional hours needed to fulfill the position, and be able to multi-task effectively. They should be a passionate and ambitious colleague whose focus is on the artistic and aesthetic realization of director’s and designer’s vision, while maintaining a nurturing, creative, and respectful environment for all participants in the production process. Works closely with the artistic director, a staff technical director, props master/production associate, costume shop manager, and administrator.

**Qualifications**
+ MFA or equivalent experience with a3-5 years’ experience as a Production Manager (or other theatre-related occupation/discipline) in a producing venue or touring company. Academic experience a plus.
+ Significant expertise in and the ability to teach at least one Technical Theatre or theatre management discipline, with a good working familiarity/technical knowledge of others (including Stage Lighting, Sound, Video or Projection, Stage Management, Rigging, etc.).
+ A determined focus and familiarity with contemporary performance and theatrical work and an ability to promote and realize the same within an academic setting at the highest level.
+ Outstanding communication skills with a proven record of effective personnel and project management, and attention to detail.
+ Outstanding collaborative, resource research, and problem-solving skills, and a desire to, and experience with working with professional artists from a diversity of backgrounds.
+ Excellent multi-tasking abilities.
+ Budget creation and management experience.
+ Working knowledge of design and production software.
+ Ability to interpret and speak to appropriate production plots and drawings in all disciplines.
+ Very good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and appropriate drafting software
+ Ability to manage student labor.
+ Familiarity with multiple disciplines (dance, theatre, music) and experience with working with professional (and international) artists a plus.
Successful candidates whose qualifications are deemed appropriate can be considered for instructional track placement.
