The role
As a Production Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This position blends technical expertise with dynamic collaboration, offering the unique opportunity to directly contribute to critical defence projects while engaging with diverse teams across Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Day-to-day, you’ll coordinate production control activities to support equipment repair and overhaul for Royal Navy Submarine and Warship programs, ensuring timely delivery, quality compliance, and effective collaboration with customers and internal teams.
Process equipment survey reports, identifying / ordering additional materials, sub-contracts and labour requirements. Maintaining delivery against commercial contracts. Provide technical support to bids for new work and variation orders for current work. Carry out detailed planning of assigned work scope for projects/contracts to enable relevant control documentation to be produced for effective implementation by production group. Estimation of work packages including the provision of labour and material estimates.
This role is full time 35, hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Production Engineer
Experience with creating and maintaining bill of materials. Understanding a range of milling, turning and drilling activities. Understanding material specifications. Report writing and delivery. Interpretation of technical drawings.
Qualifications for the Production Engineer
NVQ 3 in an Engineering / Manufacturing discipline or demonstrable equivalent technical experience.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
