Job Title: Production Engineer Job Description As a Production Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in preparing and coordinating manufacturing equipment to support new model launches and enhance unit plant competitiveness. You will work within the powertrain department, developing process plans and leading various projects from cost planning to production line launches. This position involves mentoring other engineers and technicians while participating in cross-functional working groups. Responsibilities + Prepare and coordinate manufacturing equipment to support new model launches. + Develop process plans for production lines in the powertrain department. + Mentor and support other engineers and technicians. + Lead cost planning, budget creation, machine specification, procurement, validation, installation, pre-production trials, and launch of production lines. + Create and maintain detailed schedules and budgets for assigned areas. + Participate in cross-functional working groups to achieve project goals. + Engage in a mentor program to grow as an engineer and learn from others within the department. + Oversee construction and equipment installations. + Travel up to 30% of the time to support project requirements. Essential Skills + Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or a similar technical field, or 5+ years of automotive engineering experience. + Experience in production preparation of manufacturing and execution of capital projects from planning to production. + Experience creating and implementing assembly processes in a manufacturing environment. + Experience with detailed schedule creation and utilization for capital projects greater than $500K. + Proficiency in AutoCAD, including reading, interpreting, and modifying 2D drawings. + Ability to support weekends, off-shift, and holidays as needed. + Willingness to work during plant scheduled shutdown times each year (December). + Ability for business travel to other North American sites to support future projects. + Strong equipment installation and troubleshooting skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with PLC programming and Toyopuc. + Mechanical engineering knowledge. + Project management skills.
