Description

The Production Chemist is responsible for completing tasks and assignments in accordance with established processes and methodologies, synthesize peptides, intermediates and perform processing from initial stage through purification and lyophilization to obtain the final product.

Essential Functions:

•\tChecks reactor system for proper operation in accordance with SOP and/or operation manual

•\tUnder general supervision and direction, measures and mixes ingredients according to the BPR (Batch Production Record).

•\tDuring processing, monitors chemical reactions (color and completeness of chemical reactions) and under general direction of supervision and/or senior Production Chemist personnel responds with appropriate actions to ensure proper processing.

•\tUsing established procedures (safety and process) and under general supervision, performs intermediate chemical processing steps.

•\tPrepares sample solutions and buffers for purification.

•\tUnder general supervision, purifies peptides by using preparative HPLC’s.

•\tConducts lyophilization process according to established guidelines.

•\tPerforms drying processes in accordance with established processes and procedures.

•\tReports any problems or issues regarding equipment used in processing to supervision and/or senior Production Chemist personnel.

•\tPerforms in-process checking of the fractions by using analytical HPLC and reports results to supervision and/or Sr. Production Chemist personnel.

•\tIs responsible for maintaining high safety, housekeeping and cleanliness standards.

•\tPerforms any and all additional duties as required for this position.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Knowledge of:

•\tHPLC (1-5 yrs industry experience)

•\tChemistry and chemical reactions.

•\tSafe handling of caustic and/or toxic chemicals.

•\tThe proper operation of applicable machinery and equipment (troubleshooting referred to senior PC or supervisory personnel).

•\tWorking knowledge and understanding of basic math.

•\tThe proper use of personnel protective equipment (PPE).

Education:

This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor-level degree preferably Chemistry or other Chemistry-related disciplines.

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $36.00/yr.
