Job Title: Product Support Engineer

Working Pattern: Full Time

Working location: Bristol / Hybrid – 3 days on site per week

NB: First Stage telephone interviews will be held on the following dates: 3rd-5th of March.

If shortlisted for 2nd stage interview candidates must be available for a face to face on site interview in Bristol on the 10th of March.

Product Support Engineers ( Known internally as Lifecycle Engineer) are focused on ensuring safe, reliable, durable, and cost-effective products for our customers. They support the design and development of our new products, and provide technical support to our in-service product fleets. The role is broad and varied; you could bring your existing skills to immediate customer operational support, attribute analysis, complex investigations or influence the next generation of our future product.

For roles in our in-service teams, you will lead investigations of service events, working closely with company specialists and our customer organisation. You will drive the determination and implementation of appropriate field containment strategies to minimise operational disruption and advise on any necessary design changes to address root cause. You will also facilitate detailed reviews of service-run hardware to understand component deterioration and the impact on product functionality.

For roles in our future programmes team, you will bring a customer and engineering focus to define the through life support requirements of the product, to influence the design and to affect the maturity of the product across the life cycle to meet customer and business needs.

As an authoritative engineer, you can develop your skills and knowledge of the engineering and the business leading to professional growth within the various Lifecycle Engineering teams and the range of projects we are involved in. Your work will enable products to meet the project and business requirements for the key attributes including safety, reliability and maintenance burden and have a direct impact on the product’s in-service costs and company profitability.

What you will be doing

With this attractive opportunity you will be the prime engineering interface to the customer, working with Operators, Partners, Airframers, Regulatory Authorities and Subject Matter Experts to identify and develop through life service solutions. This will typically include:

Leading multi-disciplinary integrated teams to manage issues that affect the Maturity, Lifecycle Cost, Reliability and Maintainability of the product and ensure they are addressed through Design. This can involve modelling through life performance, deterioration mechanisms and service attributes to create and maintain time on platform predictions, identifying opportunities for optimisation.For in-service teams you will provide technical support to resolve technical queries and operational arisings; lead the investigation of service issues associated with durability, reliability, maintainability or cost to introduce containment actions, establish root cause and recommend corrective actions.For future programme teams, you will influence new product design with in-service experience and develop support strategies across the product lifecycle to suit customer and business requirements. This can involve identifying cost reduction opportunities.Prepare and deliver technical communications to airframers, regulators, operators, and internal stakeholders.Ensure compliance with requirements specified by regulatory authorities and to adhere to technical and business requirements of internal & external stakeholders.

Be qualified to degree level in a STEM subject and with experience in a relevant engineering environment (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical, Materials Science & Metallurgy or Controls).Should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to use data-driven approaches to inform decisions and capable of systems-level thinking.Are comfortable performing complex tasks that are novel and ambiguous.It is desirable that you have strong planning and personal organisational skills capable of leading cross-functional teams in a collaborative way and building strong relationships (e.g. specialists, suppliers, customers, partners).Will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively.If you are working towards a Chartered/Incorporated status or are a Chartered Engineer/ hold an affiliate / associate membership of a relevant professional body, this would be advantageous.
