Description
The CDX department is a technology team responsible for the UK Bank's client-facing channels. The department comprises teams based in Mumbai, London, and Johannesburg. We are seeking a leader to take charge of the CCM Platform and Team, as well as someone who can provide leadership support for team members based in Johannesburg.
The CCM platform serves as a communication solution, enabling other systems to deliver SMS messages, voice messages, and emails to clients, including time sensitive one-time-passwords (OTPs). Additionally, it facilitates the creation of client content (e.g. account statements) that aligns with the Investec brand. This platform is utilised by various propositions within the UK bank.
In the context of the department, the person in the role will be expected to:
• Be a visible leader on the floor, assisting with unblocking team members with day-to-day challenges that may arise
• Serve as a custodian of the team culture, ensuring behaviours that are aligned with Investec's values and promoting a positive working environment.
• Be accessible to team members, helping team members to digest and make sense of the Bank's strategy
• Provide local context and insights to the global Manco as a member of the CIO's direct leadership team, ensuring that regional needs and perspectives are represented in global discussions.
In the context of the CCM Platform, the person in the role will be required define and execute on the strategy of the platform. The role consists of the following responsibilities:
Leadership
• Lead the product team, manage individual performance, and mentor team members
• Work closely with the Bank's architecture team and engineering team to ensure that applications follow the best practices
• Ensure that the solutions developed are technically sound and that technical debt is managed effectively
Collaboration
• Work with key technology partners on the product and application's vision, strategy, architecture, and roadmap. This includes working with the head of the CCM platform in South Africa towards the goal of north-south alignment
• Develop a product-oriented approach to the platform, focusing on user personas, value propositions, and user (developer) experience
• Build relationships with teams using the platform, leveraging their feedback to assess performance
• Co-develop a roadmap with platform consumers, driving product features from concept to launch in a fast-paced environment
Platform Development
• Think strategically and proactively understand the landscape, incorporating new capabilities to enhance the client experience
• Establish and drive product release plans that meet the needs of consuming platforms
• Ensure there is focus on providing consumers with a seamless and efficient developer experience by providing documentation, support, and tools
• Assist the team to anticipate and tackle issues or blockers
• As platform owner, oversee the application's vision, roadmap, management, operations, data, risks, security, and vendor management
• Develop and deliver the technology roadmap for applications under your responsibility
Platform Performance
• Responsible for cost management of the product/s and application/s. This includes managing and optimising vendor costs, cloud costs as well ensuring cost effective solutions are implemented
• Define and track key performance indicators (OKRs, KPIs, HEART metrics) to evaluate the platform's effectiveness, including uptime, response times, and user adoption rates
• Conduct regular market analysis to identify new opportunities for product enhancements or new features that align with user needs and market trends
Experience, skill and capability
Experience
• Managing a team of at least 5 members in application products development and implementation
• Previous experience in a technology department of a financial services firm
• Experience / Knowledge managing vendor solutions
• Day to day management, coaching and assessment of team
• Ability to build a strong partnership with stakeholders and demonstrate the commercial value of technology solutions
• Effective influencing and negotiation skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and technologies to varied stakeholders
