POSITION SUMMARYResponsible for the strategy, planning, and execution of a profitable product offering throughout the product life cycle of assigned product line(s). This is inclusive of gathering and prioritizing requirements for the product, defining the vision for the product, and collaborating with the engineering, sales, and operations departments to ensure that the product line’s financial and customer satisfaction goals are met. This highly visible position will report to the Vice President of Product Management and Strategic Marketing and collaborate with stakeholders across the business to optimize the product portfolio and achieve launch success.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Strategic Planning and Execution
Drive the product vision for assigned product lines and participate in strategic decisions with product-management and cross-functional leadership.Partner with engineering and operational stakeholders to define the product line’s portfolio strategy and strategic product roadmap.Ensure execution of the portfolio strategy – aligning required investments and projected results with defined strategic goals, initiatives, and insights.Product Development Coordination
Coordinate with Sales and Marketing to assess client and industry needs with a goal of identifying innovative solutions to meet those needs.Create and manage business cases and understand the financial and customer impact of product ideas within the larger scope of the product line's revenue and cost targets.Execute product development plans as a hands-on partner with Engineering, Operations, and Finance, and coordinating with Product Management and Marketing leadership.Maintain a solid understanding of product development, testing, and new product launch processes.Perform primary and secondary market research, user experience testing, and other market-facing activities to validate ideas.Find early adopters for prototypes to test market viability.Collaborate with Sales and Marketing and other key stakeholders to drive successful product launches into all customer channels.Portfolio and Product Life-Cycle Management
Oversee end-to-end product lifecycle management – from concept to launch – across all products in the product line.Execute the go-to-market strategy and identify vendors and partners required to accomplish strategic objectives and initiatives.Gather and analyze competitive intelligence, market research and VOC to support new product or service initiatives, marketing and promotional initiatives, existing product optimization and rationalization, and other portfolio management decisions.Manage the portfolio to achieve sales and profitability objectives while maximizing vitality, efficiency, and growth.Develop and manage pricing models that support product strategies and provide a sustainable competitive advantage.Work tactically with Sales team as needed to manage pricing and commercial decisions for assigned products.Contribute to continuous product planning and forecasting.Negotiate priorities and foster consensus among key stakeholders, including Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Engineering, Operations and Finance.These are the general duties required to fulfill the Product Manager job description, not a detailed description of all work required. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONSFour-year college degree from an accredited institution; Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent preferred.Minimum of 3 years of Product Management, Marketing and/or commercial experience; preferably in driving the development of products in the electric utility industry.Technical knowledge of electrical utilities, distribution systems, and overhead products. (Essential)Demonstrated knowledge of operational issues with portfolio management, risk management, etc.Experience collaborating on marketing promotions, marketing materials development, and trade shows.Experience in managing product line commercial and pricing decisions.Experience in balancing long-term, strategic road mapping and thought leadership.Experience in distilling product roadmaps into digestible and relevant presentations to key stakeholders, customers, and partners.Experience in bridging product gaps with both qualitative and quantitative insights.Heavy travel required (as much as 50% if working remotely).
