What you will doPurpose of Role: Developing role for a junior engineer in the field of Partner support (Body Builders, Electrical Infrastructure, Homologation & Compliance) & Product/Field Service Engineering (chassis & body).
Reporting: This position reports to Director: Bus.
Job Objectives:
Strategic: (Employee development - phases).
Learn and understand the bus business (sales, service market, business office & customer operation). Understand the importance product functionality and involvement of partners. Develop critical skills required for this job function. Create a road map to develop and service the job requirement.
Field Service Engineer (FSE) work focuses on providing technical field service support to customers and secure customer satisfaction including:
Identifying and correcting more complex problems associated with start-up. Researching, evaluating, and recommending new products or equipment upgrades that will meet customer needs. Developing on-going relationships with customers to secure future business. May resolve/troubleshoot implementation problems and/or train customers on the features of the equipment they have purchased. On Professional level applies practical knowledge typically obtained through education and work experience (position typically requires 2 to 5 years relevant experience).
Applies knowledge to the world of work:
Onboarding to Volvo Group, Induction to respective TD/BA, Transition Coaching. Getting to know the business, understanding the ways of working and the group and TD/BA culture. Learning about product streams (body and chassis) and the contribution of his/her work within this as well as the lifelong learning expectations in the group. Empowered to perform and make a value adding contribution to the assigned TD/BA asap with the benefit of ongoing support and supervision.Operational:
Body Builders:
Body design, weight distribution, homologation, etc.. Body building process including critical phases, inspections, etc. Materials selected and use including assembly techniques, i.e. welding process, equipment, etc.
CKD/SKD assembly:
Process understanding. Quality to secure durability and reliability, Audit & sign-off.
Homologation:
Legislation requirements. Process.
Product functionality:
Technician competence. BBI competence. Dealer familiarization and functioning. Who are you?
Qualification & Work Experience:
Grade 12 / Matric Certificate. Mechanical / Automotive Engineering Degree. Automotive qualification. Advance computer Literacy (Microsoft Office Package, Power BI) & process / systems development.
