Overview Garmin is seeking a full-time Product Designer to join the Device Interaction team in our Olathe, KS location. The Device Interaction team’s mission is to provide mobile and web applications and services that are easy to use and maximize the full interaction potential of all Garmin products. Garmin has a passionate, devoted group of customers who use our products to pursue their fitness and wellness goals. Our team has the privilege of helping these customers with seamless device interactions that just work. As a Product Designer, you will work primarily on Garmin Connect, the fitness and wellness application that millions of Garmin customers rely on. As part of your day-to-day responsibilities, you will be involved in every aspect of the feature development process, from wireframing the next great product innovation to tweaking pixels right before launch. You will be expected to utilize your full range of user experience design, interaction design, and visual design skills. A strong ability to collaborate with others is also a must. You’ll work closely with associates from various departments to research, prototype, design, present and create highly usable interaction solutions. You’ll find more information about Garmin and what we do at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0jAt_uuvQo Essential Functions Work on UX/UI design tools such as Figma Take ownership of key features in a product line Perform user interviews and observational research Interpret research data to create viable solutions Define and design product interactions with stakeholders or partners Mentor less experienced Product Designers Demonstrate the full use of design standards and procedures in performance of essential functions Apply Garmin’s Mission Statement and Quality Policy and enthusiastically exhibit a desire to see Garmin succeed Work in cross-functional teams collaboratively and professionally with other associates to achieve our objectives and key results Demonstrate a sense of urgency, commitment and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion Demonstrate the ability to produce solid design solutions without assistance from others Use effective communication skills when presenting design ideas to various disciplines or customers Provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound design thinking Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Interactive Design, Human Factors, Visual Design or a degree with an equivalent curriculum that teaches user centered design principles AND a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience OR a minimum of 9 years equivalent combination of education and relevant experience performing the essential functions of the Garmin Product Designer role Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Proven track record with leading design direction for multiple projects, and ensuring effective project planning leads to timely completion of project goals/objectives Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Desired Qualifications Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5) Passion for Garmin products Possess technical knowledge that helps bridge gaps between engineering and design environments Previous experience mentoring one or more UX designers Knowledge and enthusiasm about accessible and inclusive design Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
