KMT Waterjet, Inc., is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Design Engineer to join our dynamic McCartney Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and improving new and existing products and systems. This role requires a combination of creativity, technical expertise, and a keen eye for detail to produce high-quality designs that meet customer needs and industry standards. You will report to the General Manager and collaborate closely with other departments to maintain seamless operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:  

Conduct peer reviews of engineering changes and related documents to ensure accuracy and compliance. Analyze and evaluate customer specifications to inform design decisions. Develop systems that fulfill customer requirements, balancing functionality, cost, and feasibility. Perform design calculations and analyses to validate engineering concepts. Set up and conduct factory acceptance testing to verify product performance and quality. Research and select components for future applications, ensuring compatibility and efficiency. Evaluate test data from new components to determine their suitability for integration into existing systems. Other duties as assigned.

Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:   

Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and planning skills. Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities. Capable of conveying technical and non-technical information clearly and accurately to individuals or groups. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Results-oriented with a focus on achieving goals and meeting deadlines. Flexible and adaptable, able to adjust to changing priorities on short notice. Promote and support open and candid sharing of information and ideas.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: 

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred. Minimum 5 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience. Proven expertise in 3D modeling software (preferably SolidWorks), AutoCAD (or similar software like DraftSight), Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat. Experience in creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOM). Experience with prototyping and testing methods.
