Primary FunctionThe Procurement Manager will be accountable for the strategy, risk mitigation and continuous improvement of the procurement process of capital expenditures across A.O. Smith N. American business units.
Scope of ResponsibilityThe Procurement Manager will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders & external supply base to lead execution of capital projects and ensure procurement policies are followed. Be a trusted partner across business units and provide process, guidance and gain a deep understanding of what is required for the successful execution of capital projects. Leverage internal & external relationships to ensure proper expertise and experience is being utilized for projects.
ResponsibilitiesOversee and manage all Buyers Support Buyers with information and work with Demand Planning to ensure Material Masters, Forecasts, Safety Stock levels, etc. are up-to-date and accurate Oversee KPIs and other performance criteria to support Supplier Scorecards and develop improvement plans for Suppliers to better meet goals Approve requisitions as needed Identify "problem suppliers" and work with Sourcing Director to mitigate or replace problem suppliers Identify and bring potential Value Realization projects to the attention of Sourcing Director and submit projects to CI to be scored Monitor Inventory levels and "past due" items and provide Buyer's with relevant information to remedy material flows (pull in or push out POs) Assist with Supplier Relationships and monitor Supplier Performance through Scorecard Data Review
Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business or related field. MBA a plus. 5-7 years of experience in a combination of procurement and manufacturing engineering roles Strong negotiation skills and working knowledge of contract law and principles Demonstrated leadership skills to serve as a project lead across multiple functional areas Strategic thinking and business acumen Proven success in a self-motivating, results oriented environment Track record of successful strategic sourcing initiatives Excellent written and verbal communication skills Impeccable moral character and high ethical standards Excellent computer skills Willingness to travel as required to manufacturing sites or supplier locations
