Procurement Contract Specialist | Pay: 50k - 60k/yr | 5-Days Onsite in Portsmouth, VA | 1-Year Contract
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Procurement Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role involves managing procurement processes, sourcing new vendors, and working closely with various departments to ensure seamless operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement and be ready to embrace changes and improvements within the organization.
Responsibilities
+ Review and approve requisitions and emails related to procurement.
+ Participate in training activities and contribute to the development of new procedures and checklists.
+ Represent process changes to different departments alongside a team member.
+ Review and negotiate contracts, ensuring compliance and favorable terms.
+ Prepare Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and invitations for vendors as needed.
+ Participate in and facilitate interviewing committees to select new vendors.
+ Source new vendors based on departmental needs, including construction, water works, facilities, museums, tourism, economic development, and behavioral health.
Essential Skills
+ 2-3 years of procurement experience, preferably in government but not required.
+ Strong knowledge of procurement, supplier management, vendor management, and strategic sourcing.
+ Ability to review and negotiate contracts.
+ Experience in preparing RFPs and sourcing vendors.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ A degree is preferred but not mandatory if the candidate has strong procurement experience.
+ Certifications are highly valued, including Virginia Contracting Officer (VCO), Virginia Contracting Associate Officer (VCA), or Virginia Construction Contracting Officer (VCCO).
+ Other preferred certifications include Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), and Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB).
Work Environment
The work hours are from 8am to 5pm, with flexibility to start at 8:30am or finish early, and a 30-minute lunch break.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $60000.00/hr.
