To learn more about our dynamic, stable and growing company, visit www.balchem.com POSITION SUMMARY: The Process Optimization Specialist provides capabilities essential for unique processes of the Lincoln, NE cereals business. These capabilities include continuous improvement in the brand name cereal production and packaging process, product development in collaboration with customers, scale-ups, hazard analysis, performance monitoring, and technical training. This position requires a high level of communication skills and is expected to be in frequent communication with high profile customers, plant operations, and the commercial team to enable expansion to new products. The Process Optimization Specialist will lead the deployment of new sku numbers, packaging adjustments, and product launches. The role is also responsible for monitoring and maintaining and improving necessary production competencies and productivity at the operator level. Additionally, the role must support demand through ongoing communications with customers and supply planning. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: + Responsible for the formulation entry, revisions, and version management aspects of ERP system- Dynamics 365. Works closely with the commercial team and operations to ensure products are setup accurately to prevent manufacturing disruptions and product costing discrepancies. + Provides technical and hands-on support to enable new product or process development by collaborating with the commercial team, plant operations, customers, and engineering to deliver reliable production output. + Provides technical expertise to generate and track value by implementing improvements to existing processes. + Designs and/or executes experiments with internal and external resources to reduce variation, validate process change, or evaluate a project-s cost/ benefit. + Support engineering in the development of project scopes, justification, drawing approvals, and control narratives to plan, support, and execute process improvements. + Support reliability investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions including modifications to or the creation of Preventive Maintenance Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, and other forms. + Troubleshoots or leads investigations into recurring product or process problems with the support of Operations, Engineering & Quality. + Mentors operators and supports Operations in the development of standard operating procedures & standard operating conditions. + Responsible for technical support and improvement in the areas of production and packaging. Including irregular hour as needed for customer projects. + Other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS: + High School Diploma or GED with 10 years of related experience or bachelor-s degree with 6 years of experience. + Strong safety focus + Clear sense of ability to manage priorities to meet immediate needs and long-term goals of the business and the customer + Ability to manage time and workload efficiently, and the ability to prioritize and modify priorities accordingly + Food or pharmaceutical packaging a plus + Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, ERP) + Basic knowledge of PLC-s + Basic knowledge of PI + Knowledge of food GMP-s and hygienic design practices + Specific knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and TPM systems preferred + Self-motivation and ability to work independently + Demonstrated ability to work and develop others in a team environment + Sensitive to other cultures/backgrounds, able to work in a multi-cultural workplace + Demonstrated ability to function in a fast-paced environment while moving multiple simultaneous projects forward + Strong verbal and written communication skills to discuss, develop, train and implement plans + High sensitivity to quality and on-time delivery of commitments. + Ability to mentor others WORKING CONDITIONS: + While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear + Often required to spend time in plant environments with operating and maintenance personnel requiring one to kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, ascend, and descend stairs and/or ladders + Vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus #IN Balchem is committed to a workplace culture that values and promotes diversity, inclusion, equal employment opportunities, and a work environment free of harassment and hostility.
