Position: Process Engineer

Location: Demopolis, AL

 

The Opportunity:

You will be responsible for planning, organizing, and completing process trials for the Pulp, Power and Recovery areas along with providing technical and analytical support.  You will also be responsible for assisting and supporting the Environmental Department in maintaining compliance with the mill environmental permits. You will report to the Pulp, Utilities, and Environmental Group Leader in the Technical Department.

How you will impact Smurfit WestRock:

Determine and implement Pulp, and Power/Recovery process changes and / or trials to improve operating efficiency and performance and minimize variationPerform daily checks of production output and contributing factorsProvide analytical support, problem-solving and troubleshooting related to the operating process.Drive continuous process and environmental improvement within an operating areDevelop PI Vision pages to capture insight into processes and equipment, including the creation of new PI tags (e.g. flow, pressure, temperature, and mode on the equipmentTrack and analyze data related to any trials, changes, and continual production information to inform recommendations and decisionGenerate production reporting, create process monitoring reports, and perform daily troubleshooting of various lab equipment.Assist with environmental compliance monitoring and tracking to ensure complianceAssist with entry of Safety Data Sheets and chemical approvals

 

What you need to succeed:

Engineering Degree Fundamental understanding of mill processes Good oral and written communications skills, highly skilled in group communication as well as one to one communication. Ability to determine effective and appropriate means of communication.
