Takes day-to-day responsibility for, or provides support to research projects that generate new products, processes and understanding of commercial value to JM whilst building fundamental understanding of the science involved. Works independently and is able to co-ordinate and plan projects under general guidance. Applies initiative, innovation and creativity in solving day-to-day technical and research challenges. Typically a PhD in physical sciences or relevant industrial experience.

Job Purpose

Be responsible for process development work of new formulation, alternative material and process/equipment, transferring the new technology to production team and realizing their application in mass production.In leading role on the development sample workshop management and maintenance Coordinate the workshop resource to support R&D work for product dev and process dev team, including development sample preparation.

Principle accountabilities

Process Development and Scale up of locally developed formulation/recipe in Shanghai Technology Centre, preparation and issue of Technology Transfer documents, transfer of these new formulations to sample and mass production teams by suitable training, responsible for line trial, validation and support till these new formulations are handed over by mass production team.Qualification of alternative materials for local formulations in China plant from pilot to final validation run, including TT documents update. Qualification of local/special substrate for existing formulations in China plant from lab to final validation run, including preparing of new part TT documents.Definition of formulation blending and application process procedure, support the development of new testing/analytical methods to provide feedback and supports to both formulation owner and production site to realize mass production of new formulation. Evaluation, development, and optimization of new production process and/or new process equipment to meet the customer and market requests, either locally or jointly with overseas technology centreTake responsibility on sample workshop EHS/5S compliance and on-site management.Prepare Capex and forecast on the workshop facility and equipmentManage development sample team to meet delegated targetArrange the schedule for development sample preparationMake regular maintenance plan for instruments and equipment at sample workshopManage the sample workshop warehouse areaLead daily and capex procurement of sample workshop

Qualifications

Master Degree in chemistry/chemical engineering/ chemical machinery or closely relatedMaster +3 years or PhD +2 years experience in chemistry/chemical engineering related roleExperience with lab equipment, DOE, hands-on approachFluent oral and written English skillsHave a good work ethic and positive work attitude, strong learning abilityHave a hard-working spirit and good physical fitnessHave a good teamwork spiritHave a good communication skillAbility to work independently under pressureInnovative and analytical thinkingHave a good planning and organization skills
