SPTS wafer processing solutions include market-leading silicon etch, dielectric etch, dry-release etch, PVD, PECVD and molecular vapor deposition (MVD®), available with a range of wafer-handling options applicable to R&D, pilot production, or volume production environments. SPTS is headquartered and has its main manufacturing facility in Newport, UK, with additional manufacturing in Allentown, Pennsylvania. SPTS operates across 19 countries in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, and offers comprehensive service and spare parts support through a worldwide network of service centers and qualified local agents.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

Working as part of our Etch R&D team, the primary responsibilities of this role will be to develop novel plasma etch technologies to meet the future demands of KLA customers. 

The role will require the conception and the coordination of projects in collaboration with the stakeholders of the Etch team and the Product Management. It will require the monitoring of the project from initiation through delivery, ensuring completion of the projects on schedule and within budget constraints.

The role will involve the definition, the selection and/or the invention of new concepts, designs and approaches of plasma etching, and the development of new or improved etching processes.

The role will require defining problems and objectives, carrying out process and hardware testing, compiling and analysing results.

Additional responsibilities will include writing technical reports for both internal and external use, preparing oral presentations, creating user documents and best-known methods, generating IP submissions and supporting other business units as required.

Process Demonstrations

Demonstrate plasma etch processes to meet the agreed specificationAssess results using analytical equipment and appropriate software packagesUndertake problem solving and trouble-shootingProvide the product marketing department with regular updates on the progress of sample/demonstration workDevelop good relationships with customersSummarise results in a written report or presentation

Minimum Qualifications

Master Degree in Microelectronics/ Engineering Physics/ Materials or related Ph.DLab/Fab semiconductor processing experience is mandatory, plasma etch experience would be preferableLanguages: Fluent English (written and spoken), French is a plus
