About the position:
The Process Control Engineer is part of the Process Engineering and Automation team within Chevron’s ENGINE Center and will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing process control strategies and configuration to improve efficiency, safety, and reliability at Chevron operated facilities. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain control strategies, and automation solutions. This is a “generalist” process control position that will cover all aspects of process control including Regulatory Control, Advanced Process Control and Alarm Management.
The engineer will work in close collaboration with a team of Process Control Subject Matter Experts in the Chevron Technical Center (CTC) and with Process Control Engineers at Chevron Operated facilities.
Key responsibilities:
Basic Process Control
+ Develop, review or improve control philosophies for assigned project
+ Review control loop tuning & remediate issues using PlantTriage
+ Perform process control analyses and troubleshooting using SEEQ and OSI PI.
+ Design and implement control strategies to optimize process performance.
+ Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
+ Collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to identify and resolve control system issues.
+ Implements and maintains basic and advanced regulatory process control strategies and console graphics
+ Advanced Process Control
+ Provides foundational support for advanced process control applications via the Chevron APC Technical Support Center in testing APC applications deployed into the Process Control Network in a development environment.
+ Real Time Optimization benefits analyses
+ Implements and maintains inferential calculations to support advanced control and optimization applications
+ Support the execution and maintenance of advance process control and model based predictive controllers using DMC3.
+ Alarm Management
+ Provide general alarm management support for Chevron business units, including data analyses, maintenance of key performance indicators, alarm rationalization analyses and testing of new alarm management technologies.
+ Participate in on-the-job training/development opportunities through mentoring with Houston’s technical center counterparts
Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B. Tech) in chemical engineering or related field from a recognized (AICTE) university
+ Experience with DCS control system:Yokogawa Centum VP, Honeywell Experion, Emerson DeltaV.
+ Experience with common PLC or packaged control systems e.g. Compressor Control (CCC) and Rockwell desired.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with Chevron’s global employee workforce
Preferred Qualifications:
+ 5-10 years in a process control role with an owner operator or control system supplier
+ Loop tuning monitoring experience with applications such as PlantTriage or ControlWizard
+ DMC3 or DMC+ experience
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1:30pm to 10:30pm.
