This includes preparing fields for workouts, games, and tournaments, as well as performing routine maintenance and inspections. Duties and Responsibilities + Field Inspections & Safety: + Inspect fields for safety issues and turf grass diseases. Ensure all facilities are clean, well-maintained, and meet safety standards. + Field Preparation: + Drag and wet down clay infields, and string and chalk infields and foul lines. + Set bases, rebuild pitching mounds, and repair home plates as needed. + Mow outfields, edge baselines, and till warning tracks. + Sift clay and add it to fields as necessary. + Maintenance of Facilities: + Maintain and operate field equipment. + Perform routine repairs and maintenance on equipment and facilities. + Pull and spread tarps on baseball fields when needed. + Tournament Support: + Assist with trash pickup, cleaning restrooms, and maintaining the cleanliness of the stadium. + Inspect fields for safety issues and ensure sprinkler heads are properly aligned and functioning. + Staff Supervision & Training: + Assign tasks to temporary staff and contract workers. + Document and track maintenance work orders. + Train and cross-train maintenance staff in proper field care techniques. + Other Duties: Perform other related tasks as needed to ensure fields and facilities are in top condition. Education, Experience, Licensing + High school diploma or GED required. + One year of experience in athletic field maintenance or groundskeeping. + First Aid and CPR certification required within six months of hire. + Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. Supplemental Information + Strong knowledge of turf care and maintenance. + Ability to operate field maintenance equipment. + Understanding of safety protocols and potential hazards in field and facility maintenance. + Ability to lift heavy objects and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. + Ability to lay out and prepare athletic fields to professional standards. Work Schedule: + Hours vary and may include weekends, evenings, and holidays based on field usage and event schedules.
