Job Overview:

The Probation/Parole Supervisor is responsible for providing supervision to individuals who are currently on probation or parole, ensuring compliance with court-ordered conditions, and facilitating client access to necessary programs and services. This role includes attending court hearings, conducting assessments, monitoring compliance, and documenting progress. The supervisor will help clients in need of treatment services, provide necessary referrals, and ensure a safe and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

For Probation and Parole Supervision:

Court Attendance: Attend court proceedings as needed for client hearings, updates, and case evaluations.

Client Assessment: Conduct brief assessment tools on new clients to evaluate needs and develop treatment plans.

Record Keeping: Utilize the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system to maintain accurate client documentation and progress reports.

Fee Management: Collect and monitor client monthly fees to ensure timely payments and compliance with court-ordered fees.

Service Referrals: Refer clients to appropriate disciplines such as substance use disorder treatment, MAT, MRT, SATOP, anger management, life skills, and violent offender programs.

Group Assistance: Assist with facilitating MRT groups as needed to support client progress and behavior modification.

Progress Documentation: Complete required progress notes, reports, and violation reports as mandated by courts and organizational protocols.

Client Meetings: Meet with probationers on a routine basis to monitor compliance, provide support, and assess progress.

DWI Court Supervision: Supervise clients in the DWI court second program, ensuring compliance with court orders.

Urinalysis Collection: Collect urinalysis samples for drug testing and report results to the court in a timely manner.

Reporting: Provide regular bi-weekly updates to the supervisor on caseload status and any client issues.

Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor related to client supervision and service coordination.

SATOP Responsibilities: Conduct SATOP assessments, facilitate SATOP groups, and manage SATOP completions or comparables.

Weekend SATOP Groups: Lead SATOP Weekend Groups for additional compensation when applicable.

General Responsibilities for All Locations:

Therapeutic Services: Facilitate peer support individual sessions, group education, and recovery skill-building within the scope of your certification (CPS, MAADC).

Treatment Plan Development: Develop and update treatment plans in accordance with State Regulatory/CARF guidelines under supervision.

Transition Assistance: Help clients with transition processes, completing transition summaries, discharge plans, or referral letters.

Documentation: Document all services provided in accordance with state, regulatory, and agency standards, ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines.

Team Collaboration: Participate in treatment team meetings, providing input on client strengths, needs, and progress.

Client Education: Encourage client adherence to program expectations and communicate any concerns to the treatment team.

Client Supervision: Monitor client participation in daily activities, including ensuring attendance at scheduled appointments and group sessions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Legal and Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of confidentiality laws governing probation, parole, and substance use disorder treatment.

Case Management Knowledge: Basic understanding of case management practices, rehabilitation techniques, and supervision for individuals on probation or parole.

Therapeutic Techniques: Familiarity with therapeutic approaches and interventions for individuals dealing with substance use, mental health, and behavioral issues.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document and report effectively.

Judgment and Decision-Making: Ability to assess situations, make decisions, and handle sensitive issues with discretion.

Technology Skills: Basic proficiency in using electronic systems for record-keeping, including Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.

Experience and Education Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field from an accredited institution, OR

Experience: At least 5 years of experience in probation or a related field in the State of Missouri, OR

Credentialing: Ability to obtain certification through the Missouri Credentialing Board.

Computer Skills: Proficient in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.

Supervisory Requirements:

Employment Requirements:

Background Check: Successful completion of a background check, including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect check, and fingerprint check.

Orientation & Training: Completion of New Hire Orientation at the start of employment, followed by all necessary training, including Relias training, to be completed at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.

Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.

Certifications: Adult CPR and First Aid certification within 90 days of employment.

Health Clearance: Proof of being free from infectious diseases such as tuberculosis prior to beginning employment and annually thereafter.

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (up to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull objects, including the human body.

Repetitive Movements: Frequent hand, finger, and arm movements for typing or writing during work shifts.

Physical Activity: Sitting for extended periods, with occasional walking or standing required. Tasks are mostly sedentary but may involve walking or standing for short periods.
