The Printing Engineer will be based at the global manufacturing site in Boksburg and will report to the Head of Engineering. They will be responsible to provide expert engineering support and project management to the manufacturing operations, with specific focus on the printing department and related processes. They will be responsible for investigation, analysis, and resolution of technical issues associated with the department.

Specifically, the Printing Engineer will be required to:
- Develop expert knowledge and competence in the product printing operation. Silk Screen printing will be an advantage.
- Provide expert engineering support to the daily operations of the relevant departments.
- Provide technical expertise and input to the factory maintenance function.
- Complex problem-solving champion for all relevant processes.
- Maintain accurate records, drawings and technical files for packaging moulds & components.
- Analyse and report key measures for systemic improvement.
- Run systemic & focused improvement projects on site.
- Develop procedures, instructions, and protocols for relevant plan & processes.
- Support the sharing and upliftment of technical expertise in the relevant departments through training, coaching and development initiatives where applicable.
- Engage & communicate with project stakeholders.
- Prepare detailed feasibility studies, project plans, and designs.
- Facilitate the development of project requirements specifications.
- Scrutinise and contribute to the design of packaging components and specifications.
- Develop suitable Gantt charts to ensure projects are effectively managed and communicated.
- Meticulous management of project and technical documentation.
- Selection and management of contractors.
- Financial & contractual project control.
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/ Industrial/ Chemical) coupled with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role within the manufacturing, FMCG, pharmaceutical, cosmetic or personal care industries. Extensive technical understanding of printing processes and packaging components is required. Good customer/supplier relations and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
