Principal Systems Engineer (Linux)

Job Description

Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain Redhat and SuSe Linux servers in an enterprise environment.Design, develop and improve Linux solutions for U.S. Bank and its customersEngineer and configure consistent, stable, supportable, and highly available IT solutions that meet the needs of Infrastructure and Services.Collaborate with multiple teams to provide U.S. Bank IT solutions on developing designs, integration of services, and architecting IT systemsCooperate with support teams to drive best-in-class automation, increasing stability, and decreasing downtime.

Basic Qualifications

Associate degree or equivalent work experienceAt least 7 years of experience within a general information technology (IT) environmentAt least 7 years of experience with the design, development, and support of technology infrastructure

Required Skills/Experience:

Extensive knowledge on installing, supporting, configuring Redhat/Suse Linux OS systems and the underline hardware

Prefer 10+ years of experience with Linux systems performance tuning, troubleshooting and backup/recovery

Deep understanding of Linux networking: Iptables, Firewall, TCP/IP, UDP etc.

Strong knowledge of virtualization systems, VMware, ESXI, vSphere client, vMotion, KVM

Extensive knowledge configuring and troubleshooting OS Multipathing /HBA to SAN connected storage

Strong experience on HA and clustering solution, such as Oracle RAC clusters, Veritas clusters, Redhat HA clusters and HADR clusters

Experience on automating tasks with Shell script, Python etc.

Extensive experience on configuration management with Ansible, Salt stack, puppet, Chef, Jenkins

Extensive experience using source control tools, such as GitLab, GitHub, & Bitbucket

Extensive experience using CI/CD tools and methods such as Jenkins to deploy and manage infrastructure

Strong customer service and communications skills, both oral and written with the ability to build relationships at all levels

Proven project management skills in setting priorities to meet project deadlines

Strong analysis and critical thinking skills with ability to problem solve

Organized, detail-oriented with ability to understand big picture and make risk appropriate tradeoffs

AWS or Azure Cloud infrastructure experience preferred

Experience in infrastructure as code (IAC) using tools such as HashiCorp Terraform, AWS CloudFormation etc.

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $116,280.00 - $136,800.00 - $150,480.00
