Principal Systems Architect
Job Description - On a team of 8 other Principal Platform Architects - Each architect are the SME of their domain, working across all IT towers (i.e. Customer, Assest Management, RealTime, etc.) across multiple projects - This roles domain (2) : Compute and Storage Architectural Oversight: - Ensuring the smooth integration of Windows and Linux servers. - Connecting storage solutions to the systems. - Overseeing the transition of systems to production, which will then be managed by the operations team. Technical Discussions: - Engaging in technical discussions to understand and resolve issues. - Ensuring engineers understand the design and implementation Storage and Backup Management: - Overseeing storage and backup solutions. - Managing the transition from Veritas to Cohesity for cloud solutions. Compensation: $65/hr to $75/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Skills and Requirements - Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) - Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in infrastructure and/or application architecture, design, and implementation, with a strong track record of leadership in technical roles. - Experience in architecting and building highly scalable, resilient, and secure compute and storage solutions. - Advanced debugging and problem-solving skills specifically in Compute, Storage, and Backup technologies. - Knowledge in Cyber Security, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity Planning related to Compute, Storage, and Backup environments. - Good understanding of project management principles, including Agile and Waterfall methodologies, as they relate to large-scale technology deployments. - Experience with capacity planning, performance tuning, and operational support for enterprise compute and storage systems. - Great communication and presentation skills Operating Systems: - 50/50 split knowledge and experience between Windows and Linux. - Expertise in Solaris and Red Hat Linux. - Experience with Unix/Solaris (Linux expertise can transition to Unix/Solaris). Virtualization and Containers: - Skilled in VMware and container technologies. Cloud Experience: - Mandatory experience with Azure (70% of cloud infrastructure). Storage and Backup: - Experience with NetApp and Dell storage solutions. - Proficiency in Veritas NetBackup and transitioning to Cohesity for backup solutions. Compute: - Hands-on experience with Intel and Oracle server hardware. Architectural Skills: - Ability to oversee architecture without hands-on system administration. - Knowledge of operating systems to facilitate technical discussions. - Experience in designing and connecting systems from a project perspective. - Ability to present designs to executive leadership (VP and above). - Masters or Doctorate is preferred - Experienced with scripting and automation tools like PowerShell, Ansible, Python, or other appropriate scripting tools but will not doing on a day to day basis. - Knowledge of NERC/CIP compliance for critical infrastructure (utilities industry specific requirement - will need to complete a training and pass an assessment in order to be hired) Oracle OCI experience is a plus (30% of cloud infrastructure). - Experience with Cohesity for backup solutions.
