We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal / Sr. Principal AI Software Engineer based out of Woodland Hills, CA. As a Principal / Sr. Principal AI Software Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. For this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Define, develop, and deliver novel mathematical and statistical modeling and algorithm products to tackle the challenges of prediction, optimization, and classification.Apply machine learning algorithms to large sets of structured and unstructured data to solve a broad range of problems that include applications in pattern recognition, target detection and tracking, machine learning and decision systems, and false alarm mitigationPrototype advanced artificial intelligence techniques to stretch the capability of autonomous systems research and development programsDesign, develop, document, test and debug software and system applications that contain logical and mathematical solutionsCollaborate with cross-functional team to deploy machine learning algorithms to prototype testing and productionEnsure industry best practices and standards are applied and maintainedMay use system-of-systems and multi-agent approaches to architect and design AI software systemsWork closely with AI Systems Engineers to understand program intent, system capabilities, and output requirementsMay implement software-systems, applications, and data architectures that directly leverage AI techniques to support achieving better reliability, precision, accuracy, and speed to meet performance requirements

Basic Qualifications for a Principal AI Engineer Software (T03)

Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of relative experience; Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 3+ years of relative experience; PhD + 1 year of relative experience.  An additional 4 years of experience can be considered in lieu of degree.Active Top Secret security clearanceAbility to meet customer-specific security screening requirements within a timeframe set forth by managementWillingness and ability to work onsite full-timeExperience working in C/C++ and PythonExperience executing tasks on scheduleEffective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholdersFamiliarity with AI technologies and methodologies, including machine learning, deep learning, and convolutional neural netsExperience with Git-based software configuration management toolsExperience with PyTorch, Tensorflow, and/or other equivalent machine learning libraries

Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal AI Engineer Software (T04)

Preferred Qualifications

This position is contingent upon the successful transfer of an active DoD Top Secret Clearance and the ability to meet customer-specific security screening requirements within a timeframe set forth by management

Salary Range: $133,500.00 - $200,300.00Salary Range 2: $166,200.00 - $249,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
