Principal Software Engineer (DevSecOps)

Job Description:

At Regions, the Principal Software Engineer uses technology to solve complex business problems, lead and design innovative solutions, and oversee cloud native application development supporting Regions transformation and modernization effort.

Primary Responsibilities

Manages all aspects of system design, development, deployment, acquisition, and ongoing maintenance for all cloud native application systems within area of responsibilityDevelops technology solutions that increase the efficiency of internal business functions, resolves business problems, and supports the pursuit of business opportunities for area of responsibilityCreates and refines operational processes and systems to ensure effective regulatory and audit complianceApplies interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and verify basic lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutionsEvaluates customer and operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and assure compatibility of all interfacesBuilds enterprise grade resilient, scalable, and sustainable applications catering to millions of usersMeasures effectiveness and efficiency of existing systemsActs independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignmentsWorks on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations require a specific skillset to evaluate, troubleshoot, and problem solveApplies 12-Factor Application principles as it pertains to cloud native application development and applies to assigned workActs as a procedural and subject matter expertMonitors software and technical trends and seeks opportunities for continuous improvementMay supervise the activities of others and/or act as a mentor to junior engineers

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

This position is incentive eligible.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a related fieldFive (5) years of experience building cloud native enterprise grade applications in a lead engineer role

Preferences

Advanced expertise in applicable data structures and algorithmsAWS/Azure Solution Architect Certification’s – Cloud Practitioner, Developer, or Solution ArchitectCertified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)Experience building applications using domain-driven design (DDD)Knowledge of 12-Factor application principlesKnowledge of various monitor/alerting tool stacks such as Prometheus and Grafana within cloud native tool stackWorking knowledge of Service Mesh – Istio/Consul

Additional Job Description

Must have extensive hands-on experience in DevSecOpsMust have experience in Observability toolsMust have Cloud experience, preferably AWS

Compensation Details

Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.

The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.

$139,268.22 USD

Median:

$187,509.00 USD

Incentive Pay Plans:

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary incentive plan. Employees are eligible to receive a discretionary award based on individual, business, and/or company performance.Opportunity to participate in the Long Term Incentive Plan.
