As a **Principal Software Engineer** , you will be responsible for owning and leading the development of a key subsystem within this platform. You will drive the technical strategy for your area, working with multiple partner teams across product management, security experts, and engineering to align requirements, build consensus, and ensure seamless delivery of complex features. You will mentor engineers, lead technical discussions, and ensure best practices are followed, while ensuring the subsystem meets scalability, security, and performance requirements. US Domestic Relocation support **will not** be provided, and successful candidates will need to relocate or reside within 50 miles of the field location.  **Responsibilities** + Own and lead the design, implementation, and delivery of a critical subsystem within a high-scale, exabyte-scale security data platform. + Drive consensus across multiple partner teams, ensuring alignment on technical decisions and project goals. + Collaborate closely with product management, security experts, data scientists, and other engineering teams to translate business needs into technical solutions. + Lead end-to-end development of features, including requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, and deployment. + Mentor and guide senior and junior engineers, driving technical excellence and ensuring best practices across the team. + Optimize subsystem performance to handle vast amounts of security data, ensuring scalability, availability, and security. + Drive continuous improvement by adopting new technologies and methodologies to enhance the platform's capabilities **Qualifications** **Required Qualifications** : + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, Java + OR equivalent experience. + 6+ years of industry experience in building large-scale, distributed software systems, with a focus on highly scalable platforms. + 2+ years of industry experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP. + Demonstrated ability to lead complex feature development from concept to production, including collaborating with multiple partner teams and driving consensus. **Other Requirements:** Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
