Join the **Cloud Ecosystem Security Team** , where you will take ownership of a key subsystem in a greenfield project to build a scalable, high-performance data platform for security data. In this role, you will drive feature development end to end, collaborating with multiple partner teams to align on goals, build consensus, and deliver exceptional results. Our team is building a high-scale, exabyte-scale data platform to help enterprises: + Inventory and map their entire digital estate: From devices and users to permissions, data systems, and virtual machines, we help organizations discover and gain visibility into every asset. + Integrate and normalize data: By pre-integrating security data from disparate sources and standardizing it, we empower customers to store, retain, and use security logs more efficiently and affordably. + Answer critical security and governance questions: From identifying what systems exist and what's in them, to ensuring compliance with legal and corporate policies, we provide customers with insights and control over their security landscape. By leveraging an advanced security graph, built using AI and machine learning algorithms, we enable organizations to detect patterns, uncover threats, and make informed decisions about their digital estate's security posture in real time. As a **Principal Software Engineer** , you will be responsible for owning and leading the development of a key subsystem within this platform. You will drive the technical strategy for your area, working with multiple partner teams across product management, security experts, and engineering to align requirements, build consensus, and ensure seamless delivery of complex features. You will mentor engineers, lead technical discussions, and ensure best practices are followed, while ensuring the subsystem meets scalability, security, and performance requirements. US Domestic Relocation support **will not** be provided, and successful candidates will need to relocate or reside within 50 miles of the field location.  **Responsibilities** + Own and lead the design, implementation, and delivery of a critical subsystem within a high-scale, exabyte-scale security data platform. + Drive consensus across multiple partner teams, ensuring alignment on technical decisions and project goals. + Collaborate closely with product management, security experts, data scientists, and other engineering teams to translate business needs into technical solutions. + Lead end-to-end development of features, including requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, and deployment. + Mentor and guide senior and junior engineers, driving technical excellence and ensuring best practices across the team. + Optimize subsystem performance to handle vast amounts of security data, ensuring scalability, availability, and security. + Drive continuous improvement by adopting new technologies and methodologies to enhance the platform's capabilities **Qualifications** **Required Qualifications** : + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, Java + OR equivalent experience. + 6+ years of industry experience in building large-scale, distributed software systems, with a focus on highly scalable platforms. + 2+ years of industry experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP. + Demonstrated ability to lead complex feature development from concept to production, including collaborating with multiple partner teams and driving consensus. **Other Requirements:** Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:  + Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. **Additional or Preferred Qualifications:** + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, Java + OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, Java + OR equivalent experience. + Knowledge of data processing frameworks such as Spark, Hadoop, or similar technologies. + Experience with security data management, logging, or monitoring solutions. + Expertise in cloud-native architecture, microservices, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). + Experience owning and delivering large-scale subsystems or platform components in mission-critical SaaS products. + Deep understanding of security principles and the challenges of securing large-scale systems. Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
