Principal Software Engineer

The Identity and Access Pillar, within the Platform group at Smartsheet, is responsible for core services like Authentication, User/Group management, Directory Integrations, Authorization/Access management etc. for the entire application. The Principal Engineer for this pillar will have the opportunity to shape the future of some of the most fundamental services at Smartsheet and contribute to making the platform even better for enterprises to use and manage.

This full-time position reports to the Sr. Director of Engineering and can be located in our Bellevue, WA office, or you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.

You Will:

Architect major feature enhancements with appropriate delegation to other engineers on the pillar Review and coach team on project designs for design review presentations Create strong partnership with Principal and Distinguished engineers across Smartsheet to ensure propagation of best practices Guide and mentor team members regarding architecture and best practices Analyze feature sets for market effectiveness: promote appropriate feedback and discussions with Product and Design Analyze feature sets for implementation efficiency and performance: facilitates feedback and discussions with Product and Design Partner with engineering leaders, product management, user experience and other essential areas of the business

You Have:

10+ years software development experience building highly scalable, highly available “Tier 1” customer-facing cloud applications 10+ years of programming experience with full stack technologies such Java, Kotlin or TypeScript 2+ years of experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.) Experience developing, documenting, and supporting REST APIs A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience. Legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis
