We are part of the Amazon Security organization, and are looking for a Principal Product Manager Technical (Principal PM-T) to drive direction for Security solutions with company wide security, Risk and compliance impact. You will be in charge of the roadmap and setting vision for how Stores, Devices and other (SDO) orgs in Amazon consumes our products. We are looking for people with the desire and talent to make big changes in a fast-paced environment.
This role is inherently cross-functional and requires a strong ability to influence and partner with other teams. In this role, you will exercise your leadership skills as you understand the business requirements from internal customers and senior management, negotiate prioritization, and represent their needs to the global Amazon Security development teams.
Since our systems are foundational to the Amazon ecosystem, you will interact with various Amazon business including Amazon Stores, Prime, Digital, Alexa, and AWS.
Amazon Stores Security is a high visibility team that solves security challenges at a massive scale. We are looking for those who are ready to take on a lead role in addressing security issues across one of the largest and diverse companies in the world. Security issues at such scale require a passion for defining and implementing robust solutions.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable in dealing with ambiguity, draw upon exemplary product management capabilities, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a passion for creating reliable, maintainable, and secure solutions. The candidate should be open to new challenges, proficient at multi-tasking, innovative, self-directed, and a great team player. The candidate will interact with a broad cross-section of the Amazon organization, spanning a wide range of technologies.
Key job responsibilities
- Build and contribute to strategy and roadmap: Identify customer needs, technology/industry trends, challenges, use cases, trends, and related services to help build a roadmap of studies to evaluate and improve customer experience.
- Manage ambiguity: Independently take steps necessary to understand complex technologies and customer use cases across a variety of customer personas and product categories to produce meaningful insights that drive improved customer experience.
- Lead large and complex studies: Design and build proof of concept experiments based on common customer use cases to evaluate the end-to-end customer experience. Own the full study lifecycle, including scoping, design, data collection and analysis, and presenting a comprehensive written narrative of insights and recommendations to senior leadership to drive improvements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders: Work with internal technical stakeholders (e.g., technical product managers, software developers, solution architects, business intelligence teams) to execute studies and work cross-functionally with peers/colleagues globally to support training, best practices, and shared opportunities.
- Focus on customers: Stay connected to customer trends, needs, and pain points in the cloud space. Collaborate with customer researchers to deliver customer insights that identify and drive customer experience improvements.
A day in the life
A Principal PMT in Stores Security, Risk, and Compliance will drive product/technical strategy and execution across security initiatives. Daily activities include partnering with stakeholders and engineering leaders to shape security roadmaps, leading cross-functional meetings with Store Tech, Security, Legal, and Compliance teams, and providing strategic direction on security architecture decisions.
They'll focus on modernizing security infrastructure, automating security and compliance controls, and building scalable solutions that support global store expansion. Key stakeholders include Stores Tech leadership, Security teams, Compliance/Risk teams, and stores partners.
Success requires strong technical judgment, stakeholder management, and ability to influence complex security decisions across teams.
