Principal Product Engineer, ACG Footwear
ACG, spelled “All Conditions Gear,” continues to lead Nike in considered Footwear design for outdoor use. WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH As a member of the ACG team, you will collaborate with key footwear functional partners: Innovation, Design, Product Management, Product Development, Material Development, Product Testing, Value Engineering, Partner PCC and PMO Teams, Global Sourcing and Planning, and Operations Teams. You are the key point of contact between our PCC/PMO partners and WHQ product team and must ensure that communication during the product development and commercialization process is complete, clear, and accurate. You will need to navigate the NIKE matrix to ensure that our processes model and match NIKE Footwear Engineering divisional and functional standards and methodologies driving product excellence. This role reports to the Engineering Director of Running/ACG. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR We’re looking for a Principal Footwear Product Engineer for ACG Footwear to be an integral part of our Footwear Product team and help drive product excellence for ACG consumers. As a Principal Footwear Product Engineer, this person will utilize advanced and diverse technical knowledge/experience to solve complex engineering challenges for highly technical performance products. Actively engaging in innovative concepts/process initiatives will be critical. The position requires a balance of engineering expertise, strategic leadership, and collaborative teamwork to transform concepts and innovation into reality and ensure product excellence from concept through manufacturing. The ideal candidate is a big-picture thinker who can also attend to critical details and is passionate about engineering excellence, with a strong foundation in footwear engineering, chemical, materials, and manufacturing processes. As a member of the Engineering team, this person will effectively build relationships, lead, and interact with teams across Nike Footwear Product Creation. + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience or training + A minimum of 5 years directly relevant work experience + Experience working in Engineering/Chemical Engineering or Equivalent Technical Mechanical Engineering fields + A subject matter expert in Chemical Engineering or Tooling Engineering with strong thermos plastic and foam (underfoot) development experience. + Solid knowledge of footwear lasts, pattern engineering, test methodologies, costing and manufacturing. + Demonstrated critical experiences in Adopting and Driving Innovation through the INLINE Product Creation Process. + Demonstrated experience in Driving Product Initiatives and/or Strategy across the greater Footwear Dimensions and/or Divisions. + Performance footwear product experience is preferred. + Ability to lead and coach peers inside and outside the product engineering function. + A leadership identity that fosters teamwork that instills trust and collaboration to deliver product excellence + Strong verbal and written communication and influencing skills with the ability to simplify and convey complex information to various audiences. + Value differences and be able to work across cultures while navigating NIKE’s organizational matrix + Ability to travel up to 15% of the time. WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON As a Principal Footwear Product Engineer, you will work on highly technical performance product with the most complex engineering challenges and initiatives, you will focus on product excellence that ultimately drives and supports product performance, quality, craftsmanship, and efficiency within a collaborative team environment. You will review samples and Tech Packs(Physical and Digital-Technical Drawings and 3D files) on each development gate from development through commercialization and manufacturing. You’ll coach and mentor junior Engineers/tech developers for skill and career development in your field of expertise and support the technical training team, including content building and teaching. You will establish and implement best practice. You will support costing initiatives throughout development. You will lead high-profile chemical related initiatives; we are looking to you to provide a multi solution path approach and creative problem solving to deliver sustainable product excellence for our consumers. You will also partner with cross functional team and Last Engineering teams to create new Lasts.
