Principal Pavement Engineer

  Role description: 

Due to consistent growth in our team and the demands of our strong and growing pipeline of work, we are searching for a Principal Pavement Engineer for our Civil Infrastructure team. The role will support our team nationally and can be based in NSW, VIC, QLD or WA. 

Role accountabilities: Providing technical pavement design advice for small, medium and large-scale infrastructure projects. Coordinating pavement designs with project teams working across multiple offices. Embracing a strong digital work environment and delivery culture. Creating sustainable and innovative pavement solutions. Proactively manage components of projects, taking responsibility for resource allocation, managing subcontractors, managing the production of analysis and design (including drawings and reports), client communication, ensuring the integrity of the overall design (in collaboration with other design disciplines), quality assurance and client feedback. Oversee project delivery, ensuring budgets, quality and timeframes are met. Presentation of pavement design to contractor clients, road authorities and other clients. Liaising with and assisting the Project Manager to ensure commercial aspects can be successfully achieved and risks managed. Providing leadership, direction and technical advice to project team members. Contribute to strategic business goals. Commitment to health and safety. Qualifications & Experience:

You are a technically capable civil engineer with extensive experience in pavement design for civil infrastructure projects. You will come to us with: 

Bachelor’s Degree (Civil Engineering) or equivalent. Chartered Engineer, National Engineering Register and/or Registered Professional Engineer in the relevant state (VIC or QLD) 10+ years of related industry experience. Competent in the use of Austroads Guide to Pavement Technology series. Detailed knowledge of technical specifications from one or more State Road Authorities. Competent in the use of specialist pavement design software such as CIRCLY and TfNSW software such as FPD2, PTL2 and RPD. Experience with other design software such as AutoCAD, FAARFIELD and EverFE would be advantageous. Demonstrated involvement in technical societies in the field of pavements would be advantageous. Demonstrated technical, commercial and delivery acumen. Excellent presentation skills. Demonstrated experience of managing interdisciplinary design interfaces and/or projects. Demonstrated ability to lead, with good influencing, motivating and delegation skills. Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and relationship building skills, both internally and externally. Experience preparing fee buildups and proposals for new opportunities. Experience of whole of life cost analysis and pavement optioneering. Experience in delivering drawings and reports (including calculations) for concept (tender design and reference design) and detailed design projects. Demonstrated self-management and proven ability to work independently.
