We are looking for a Principal Engineer to join our global team in the Metals Business Unit, specializing in Mineral Processing. This is an exciting opportunity to work with innovative and trusted professionals in a consulting engineering environment. As a Principal Engineer – Mineral Processing, you will play a key role in delivering engineering services and offering field support across various projects. You'll collaborate closely with clients to ensure project objectives align with business, environmental, and financial goals. Your guidance will help steer project decisions and ensure successful outcomes for the client.

 

In this role, you may also serve as Study Manager for early-stage mineral processing projects managing scoping and pre-feasibility assignments. You will provide expert oversight and problem-solving across process plant systems and operations. This could involve developing process engineering deliverables, troubleshooting field issues, and supporting execution and commissioning phases.

 

In this role you will:

Lead and complete process engineering components for scoping, pre-feasibility, and feasibility studies. Manage scope, schedule, and budget for the process engineering team or overall project. Understand project requirements related to scope, cost, and schedule. Coordinate and guide the process engineering team to deliver project objectives. Develop process engineering deliverables including test work definitions, design criteria, mass, and energy balances, and more. Collaborate with clients to ensure clear communication and coordination. Oversee the development and implementation of process technology. Represent the practice in project meetings and review capital cost estimates. Act as Study Manager for scoping and pre-feasibility studies. Provide technical guidance on complex problems and approve project plans. Participate in site commissioning of new equipment and process systems. Prepare well-written project reports and contribute to business development initiatives. Provide mentorship to new graduates and engineers

 

What you bring:

Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Mineral Processing. Minimum of 20 years of experience in design, commissioning, and/or operation of minerals processing equipment. Experience in scoping and managing metallurgical test work programs. Strong client focus and ability to lead engineering tasks within budget and schedule. Experience in concentrator design for commodities such as gold, copper, PGM’s, lead and zinc would be highly valued. Ability to manage individuals to achieve quality, cost, and schedule objectives. Experience in engineering planning for studies and projects. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proactive with strong initiative and leadership skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage competing demands. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and interact with clients and senior management. Previous experience developing and mentoring engineers
