What we need  

We are seeking a seasoned Principal Mechanical Engineer to advance the design and development of our next-generation mobile robot systems.  In this role, you will be a key member of our Hardware R&D organization. You will drive the technical vision and execution of complex robotic systems, from concept through commercialization. Your exceptional leadership, problem-solving abilities, and deep industry expertise will be instrumental in delivering groundbreaking solutions.

We are a fast-growing team designing mobile robots with a focus on innovation and new product development from concepts to commercialization. 

 What you’ll do 

Technical Leadership: Provide strategic direction and technical leadership for complex mechanical engineering projects.  

Design and Development: Oversee the design, development, and validation of innovative electromechanical systems.  

Mentorship: Mentor a high-performing engineering team. 

Problem-Solving: Lead complex problem-solving efforts, identifying innovative solutions and overcoming technical challenges. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster strong partnerships with electrical, controls, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams. 

Project Planning: Assist in building program plans and schedules to meet project milestones. 

Innovation: Drive innovation by exploring new technologies and design concepts. 

Hands-on Engineering: Actively participate in prototyping, building, testing, and iterating on designs. 

Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), detailed drawings and specifications per ANSI Y14.5 standards.  

Up to 15% of travel may be required.

What you’ll need 

Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 12 years of relevant industry experience.  

Proven track record of bringing complex mechanical engineering projects from concept to commercialization.  

Deep expertise in electromechanical systems design, including component sizing, material selection, and manufacturing processes. 

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis. 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

Expertise in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and intermediate experience with FEA tools (SolidWorks Simulation or Ansys). 

Expertise in creating detailed dimensional drawings per ANSI Y14.5 standards using GD&T. 

Knowledge of robotics, automation, and related industry standards. 

Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team. 

Our environment

Up to 15% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. 

The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed bi-weekly.
