Principal Engineer - Biomedical

At Lilly, we unite caring with discovery to make life better for people around the world. We are a global healthcare leader headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. Our employees around the world work to discover and bring life-changing medicines to those who need them, improve the understanding and management of disease, and give back to our communities through philanthropy and volunteerism. We give our best effort to our work, and we put people first. We’re looking for people who are determined to make life better for people around the world.

Primary Purpose

The Biomedical Signal Engineer role is part of the Biomedical Engineering Team within the Digital Health (DH) Organization. This role is for a biomedical signal engineer with expertise in the areas of biomedical engineering, sensor technology, signal processing and data analytics, targeted at developing research capabilities to validate biomedical wearable sensors and digital health technologies (DHTs) for clinical trial applications. For example, the candidate may be asked to develop research capabilities and operate lab equipment to study human motion sensors and other DHTs. The candidate should be proficient in operating biomedical research devices, developing signal processing pipelines and analytical tools. Background in the technologies of motion capture system, actigraphy, inertial-measurement-unit (IMU), photoplethysmography, electrocardiography and other signals is required. This role will leverage Lilly Centre for Clinical Pharmacology (LCCP) in Singapore and DH resources in collaboration with internal team members to develop research capabilities for DHTs. This position will partner, as necessary, with DH Clinical Operations, Data Engineering and Medical Research to support DHT studies and evaluate results.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop and manage DHT testing capabilities

Develop biomedical testing capabilities for DHTs by collaborating with senior Biomedical Engineering members, manage the lab space and equipment, handling DHTs for in-house testing.

Assist in developing in-house evaluation tests and user acceptance tests (UATs) for related DHTs.

Assist in managing and setting up in-house evaluation tests, including scheduling sessions and monitoring participants.

Support data preparation and analysis for in-house evaluations and UATs.

Develop biomedical signal analysis capabilities

Collaborate with senior Biomedical Engineer members to conduct testing over multiple DHTs and integrate biomedical data into advanced analytics platforms.

Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and workflows to process biomedical datasets.

Utilize Python and R for data wrangling, analysis, and visualization to support research and development initiatives.

Apply principles of biomedical engineering to solve problems related to signal processing, imaging, and physiological data interpretation.

Ensure the quality, security, and scalability of biomedical data solutions.

Perform exploratory data analysis and generate insights to inform product development and clinical research.

Stay updated on emerging technologies and methodologies in biomedical data engineering and analytics.
