The Opportunity:

We are seeking expressions of interest for a Principal Engineer.

The Principal Engineer leads the Mission Systems program, overseeing technical capabilities, processes, and the management of technical assurance, quality, document control, and personnel competencies. They ensure the technical integrity of engineering deliverables, including designs, specifications, studies, calculations, and general support, both directly to customers and when using customer systems and regulatory frameworks.

The Principal Engineer guides other engineers, working closely with Chief or Principal engineers from other programs and units. They set strategic direction for engineering policy, workforce planning, and the professional development of technical disciplines, promoting the sharing of ideas and capabilities across units.

The key responsibilities of the role will include, but is not limited to: 

Provides leadership and technical direction across the Mission Systems Program.

Works closely with Operational Unit and program/project engineering leads and their staff.

Develops and maintains Mission Systems prorgram engineering processes and procedures that interface with the broader KBR Quality system

Provides identification, development and inclusion of AIC opportunities to maximise Australian sovereign capabilities in Engineering

Ensures AIA identification, implementation and evaluation is undertaken relevant to Engineering

Reports AIC output and outcome to the Support Services Manager.

Manage the delivery of the Technical Assurance functions, including quality assurance, audit, analysis, corrective action. reporting and lessons learnt.

Provide leadership and assistance to programs and projects on an as required basis including technical advice and direction, and sourcing internal or external expertise as required.

Provide direction and guidance with developing and maintaining a framework for technical learning and development.

Work closely with Operational Units and People and Culture in developing the careers of technical personnel including training and professionalisation needs, and potential roles.

Attend project status reviews.

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

Essential:

A degree in engineering:

Registered professional engineer in an Australian jurisdiction

Chartered engineering status

Minimum 15 years’ experience

Proven engineering leadership and management experience in complex programs

NV1 Security clearance (or ability to obtain).
