We have an exciting hybrid opportunity for a Principal Engineer – Turbine Design military program! The Hot Section Engineering Mechanical Design team is seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, preferably with turbine rotor or airfoils experience. The Engineer will work with the other disciplines of the Integrated Product Team (IPT) including project, structures, durability, aero-thermal, and product definition. Engineer will lead interactions with other Hot Section Engineering IPTs. If you have strong leadership skills, experience in rotor or airfoils design and a passion for our mission, we are interested to hear from you! + Designs major components or major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and specific products using computer design and engineering systems. + Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specifications for requirements and cost. + Provide analytical support through all design phase, production manufacturing and field support services + Lead design engineer for engineering changes that lead to new hardware design, testing and production + Champion teams toward resolution of mechanical engineering problems of difficult and complex scope, seeking a balanced system solution, ensuring engineering excellence, all with limited supervisor oversight. + Enable and sustain the efficient use of Outsourcing via technical review, oversight, and ownership. + Establish and maintain trust with internal and external customers by executing tasks with robust technical solutions. + Work with our Customer Technical Support (CTS) and Maintenance Repair & Overhaul Engineer (MRO-E) teams to respond to customer questions, review deteriorated hardware, update engine maintenance manual limits, and lead timely resolution of field event root cause analyses. + Support Operations and collaborate with Engineering Support Teams to address production and sustainment issues to facilitate the timely delivery of engines. + Review and approval of product definition data (prints and models). + Process technically sound engineering changes within program schedule that meet performance metrics such as cost, weight, and part life. + Work with external customers and present strong technical solutions. + Attend and have participation in group meetings, teleconferences and/or training required. + Actively participate in initiatives for continuous improvement + Based on business needs, the incumbent may be required to support other duties/functions within the company. + Lead and mentor others. Support and contribute to the discipline health. + Support design community initiatives + English (read, write, speak) is required when communicating with customers, co-workers, or supervisors who only speak English. + Based on business needs, the incumbent may be required to support other duties/functions within the company and have availability to travel up to 10%. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship **Qualifications You Must Have** + Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 8 years of Design Engineering experience or and Advance degree in STEM with 5 years of Design Engineering experience. + 5 years of experience with hardware, 3D CAD modeling, blueprints, dimensions & tolerances or manufacturing methods including experience with GD&T. + U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract. **Qualifications We Prefer** + Aircraft engine rotor or airfoils experience including the design, development, manufacture, testing and/or maintenance of jet engine compressors or turbines. + Experience with Microsoft Office applications + Experience in Teamcenter, Unigraphics NX, ANSYS, and classical methods of analysis. + United States Department of Defense Clearance **What We Offer:** + Employee Scholar Program **Learn More & Apply Now!** + Hot Section Engineering is responsible for the design, development, technology maturation and in service support of all diffuser cases, combustors, turbines (vanes, blades, rotors and cases), augmenters (military), nozzles and associated fuel systems for all military, commercial and industrial engine models and radial auxiliary power units.
